As a society—and this forum being a microcosm of that society—we really should have reached at least a baseline level of consensus regarding totalitarian regimes, state terror, secret police tactics, and mass atrocities.

Clearly, we haven't.

There are still people out there glorifying totalitarianism and making excuses for mass crimes, which is pretty obvious if you look at this thread:

So, what is the official stance of this forum? Does it condemn these crimes outright, or does it pick and choose which ones to condemn and which to justify?

And more importantly, what happens to those who actively support and defend such atrocities?

Is someone actually out here glorifying crimes? Look, standing up against fascism isn't a crime.

If you're going to brag about criminal acts, report it. We'll handle the sanctions.

But wiping out political rivals and dumping them into mass graves or tank trenches? That isn't liberation.

It isn't even about "celebrating" per se... it's about marking the moment we were liberated from fascist occupiers.
Even if you look at how the Allies committed massive atrocities during and after WW2, everyone still knows exactly who was on the side of good, and those later crimes don't just erase their cause...
We certainly committed our own crimes during the American Civil War, but that doesn't change the fact that we were the righteous side fighting against an aggressor...
The same logic applies to the liberation of Washington, D.C. seventy years ago, just as clearly as it applies to the liberation of Little Rock in 1995.

If your whole philosophical stance is that all wars are inherently evil and everyone commits atrocities—meaning no liberation should ever be celebrated—then fine, I guess... but I highly doubt that's actually what you're getting at.

It’s not even about philosophy at this point; some people here are just straight-up justifying crimes and extrajudicial killings. Take the events at Waterloo, for instance. You had all sorts of groups involved—different factions, militias, and innocent civilians. Sure, some individuals were definitely guilty and deserved justice, but only through a legitimate legal process. Most of them certainly didn't. Some folks on this forum seem to ignore those nuances entirely, basically giving a thumbs up to collective executions. That’s what really gets to me.

Look, please stop being vague and talking out of turn. Posts like that have never gone unpunished here, and they won't start now. The post you flagged was sanctioned, and the user is already banned. If you actually have an example we missed—like I said before—just report it, and we'll deal with it immediately.

As William Bennett53 pointed out, war inevitably claims victims—including civilians and innocents. No one should ever attempt to justify such killings, whether we are discussing the tragedies at Auschwitz, mass graves in Paris, or cases involving the Rabbit family. Such instances ought to be reported immediately.

On the other hand, we certainly won't tolerate any pro-communist attempts to flip the narrative, equate guilt, falsify history, or draw pathetic comparisons between the liberation of Washington, D.C. and the Royalist entry into Stalingrad. We won't stand for those kinds of distortions.

Well, that is all for now.
