Gone Girl is an upcoming American mystery thriller film directed by Paul Feig and written by Jessica Sharzer. Based on the novel of the same name by Darcey Bell, the film stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively and follows a small-town blogger who tries to solve the disappearance of her mysterious and rich best friend. Great movie.
I love how they worked humor into the whole plot. You can really feel the Feig touch.
Both are great—the roles fit them perfectly.

I actually dig how they wove the humor throughout the whole plot—you can definitely feel that Feigov touch.
Both leads are great; they fit their roles perfectly.

When did you actually see it?

Looks promising to me. It gives off some major Gone Girl vibes with the plot, but I've heard the book is packed with twists, so I'm looking forward to it.😁 Blake seems like a perfect fit for the role. I’ve always found Kendrick a bit irritating, but whatever.
The music in the trailer is spot on. 👍

Possible spoilers!

Caught this at the theater last night and, honestly, it wasn't really what I was expecting... I wish they’d leaned into a more serious tone—don't get me wrong, the comedy was actually funny, but it kept pulling the whole thing away from being a legitimate mystery drama. It felt too much like a parody at times, especially during those scenes where > hits > with the fake bullet and when the car crashes into >... The acting from > and > is top-tier, and the kids were cute—plus, I loved all the outfits > wore—but since it didn't hit the mark I wanted, I left feeling a little let down.

Anyone else seen it yet? What did you think?

I honestly wasn't expecting this much love, to be totally real with you. I mean, I was pretty surprised by all the positive vibes, especially since I saw that Anna Kendrick was stepping away from her usual comedy lane and doing something that definitely isn't Pitch Perfect.

Honestly, this is pure comedy gold.

By the end, it starts leaning pretty heavily into parody territory with some slapstick moments, but it stays within a range that’s actually quite easy to stomach.

Kendrick and Lively have such great chemistry together, and you can just tell they were having a blast on set. It’s a fun, charming little movie.

I caught this at the theater last night and honestly, it wasn't really what I was expecting... I wish they had gone with a more serious tone, because while I don't mind all the hilarious comedy bits—which were actually pretty funny—it's hard to take the whole thing seriously as a crime mystery drama when the genre claims to be, especially since it keeps veering into parody territory, like that scene where Stephanie shoots Sean with a blank or when the car hits Emily. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are both amazing, and the kids are cute, plus I absolutely loved those outfits Blake was rocking, but the movie just didn't hit the mark for me, so I left feeling kind of disappointed...

Has anyone else seen it yet? What did you guys think?

That's exactly how I felt. The movie isn't bad, it's fun enough, though the ending is pretty weak since it feels like some cheap off-brand comedy, but I just don't see the thriller or the mystery elements in there. It's a bummer because at one point I kept thinking about Gone Girl... instead, it just feels like a comedy inspired by Gone Girl.

I finally watched the movie—it’s decent enough 😁
but that ending... it leans way too hard into the comedy and parody bit. The character basically runs him over and just stands there grinning from ear to ear—they definitely overplayed their hand there
it feels totally disconnected from the tone of the rest of the film

I thought the movie was pretty decent—fun enough to just switch my brain off and enjoy. Honestly, the trailer looked so dull I almost skipped it entirely, but I caught wind somewhere that it was actually okay, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

A pretty charming film.
It does exactly what it sets out to do.
Anna Kendrick is strangely endearing in this role...

I agree the ending felt a bit too much like a parody. Everything leading up to it, though, worked for me. Blake was fantastic, and I really dug her styling. Her husband is sexy and the soundtrack hits all the right notes. Honestly, I just wish they hadn't strayed so far from the book regarding the finale.

Watched it yesterday. Honestly, I wasn't even feeling it at first because Kendrick is in it, and she just gives me weird vibes.🤔
It’s an okay movie. A bit of comedy here, a bit of mystery there, but since it dragged on for two hours, they could've spent less time showing off Blake and her designer outfits and more time actually fixing the plot, which was pretty weak. Also, I just couldn't wrap my head around why Sean would fall for her or be attracted to her. To me, she's just plain, unsexy—kind of looks like a kid. They don't work as a couple at all.
And it felt pretty stupid that she ends up with the house in the end. Like, how does that even happen?🤔
The soundtrack sucked.
The husband is a total sweetheart.🙂

It’s a decent enough film. It leans into comedy and mystery, but since we were sitting through two hours of it, they really should have spent less time focusing on Blake’s wardrobe and more time actually fleshing out the plot—especially since that wasn't even the strongest part. Also, I just couldn't buy the chemistry between Sean and Kendrick. He's supposed to be sexually attracted to her? Please. To me, she comes off as totally bland and uninspiring, almost child-like. They just don't work as a couple.
It feels a bit ridiculous that she ends up keeping the house. I mean, seriously, what kind of logic is that?🤔
The soundtrack wasn't my thing.
My husband is a total sweetheart.🙂

I’m not exactly a huge fan of Kendrick either, but in this context, it actually works. His wife "dies," and suddenly he’s finding comfort elsewhere faster than you can blink. Plus, Stephanie is the polar opposite of Emily, which might be exactly what drew him in. As much as he was obsessed with his glamorous wife, he was constantly under pressure to live up to her image—something he admitted himself. On another note, I thought Emily's styling was top-tier. 🙏
If I were to change one thing, I’d overhaul the ending to give it more weight. While the movie leans heavily into humor, it’s fundamentally a serious mystery—and that finale felt a bit too much like a parody.
I actually found that French music really hit the spot.
Blake really carries this entire movie. She plays the role perfectly—it’s basically a slap in the face to every idiot out there.

This movie 🙏

I’ve probably watched this thing three times since it dropped and it hits just as hard every single time.
It’s that perfect, light mix of dark comedy and thriller vibes.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are absolutely killing it here 🙏

Especially Blake. 😍
Man, I am obsessed with her.

I really want to pick up the book too, just to see how they stack up.
Heard there are huge differences—like they changed a ton of stuff and totally made up things that never even happened in the original story.

I just sat through this for the first time recently. It genuinely moved me, but I find myself agreeing with one of the ladies on this forum earlier—I wish they had made the ending a bit more "serious." Not that I'd want to strip away that sense of humor they managed to weave in, but you know, it would have provided that certain weight you typically expect from mystery films and such...
