I've been dealing with this groin pain for about a week now... I was lugging some heavy gear down a flight of stairs last Saturday, so that might be the culprit—but can something like that actually linger for seven days? Usually, if I strain something, it clears up in a day or two.

If it isn't just a strain, what else could it be?

Look, I’m definitely not an expert here, but just looking at where you're hurting and considering everything you've been lugging around... man, isn't it just a classic case of burnout?

I mean, come on, doesn't a hernia show up in the gut area? I've already had two surgeries myself back when I was a kid, and those scars are way below the waist... but what I'm feeling is right where my legs meet my torso, on the inner side...

I've been scouring the internet for answers, but I haven't found anything useful. Look, I'm just throwing ideas out there based on what I know—don't take this as actual medical advice. This is just me guessing what might be going on.🙂

Maybe you just pulled a muscle somewhere.

I don't want to sound ungrateful, but you're BORED... seriously.😁

It’s not even the hernia part that's bothering me; it's right where my legs meet my torso...

Besides, I just don't have the time for surgery...😎

Oh, please. Every time I claim I'm bored, nobody actually believes me.😁

Since I noticed from your profile that you're still quite young, 😁 this might just be a temporary phase as your reproductive system continues to mature. Now, I am certainly no medical expert in this field, but isn't it true that most men go through a similar period of groin pain during those formative years? It usually passes in time.

It’s not like my junk hurts or anything, it’s just the area around it... feels like some kind of muscle inflammation—but like I said before, it really should have cleared up by now.

For the last week, I’ve been sitting with my laptop on my lap for a few hours every day... maybe there's a connection there?

Try looking up "groin pain syndrome" online; it'll make things a lot clearer for you.
It's pain at the insertion point where the rectus muscle meets the pubic bone, caused by straining an unprepared abdominal muscle wall.

As for that "I don't have time for surgery" attitude... it’s obvious the kid is naive. When a hernia becomes incarcerated or an appendix perforates, nobody asks about your schedule—least of all the person whose life is on the line. I just "love" dealing with patients like that.😈

Basically, groin pain boils down to tendon inflammation in the adductor longus or the abdominal muscles. If it gets bad enough, you're looking at degenerative issues in the pubic symphysis. It’s a high-stress zone where different kinetic forces meet. Getting the balance between the adductor and abdominal muscles is of great importance, along with maintaining enough elasticity in the pubic symphysis to allow for that slight 2 mm movement and 3-degree rotation. A lot of times, this stems from the weakness of the abdominal muscle wall—what people often call a "sportsman's hernia." Groin pain is the most common in soccer players, affecting about 6% of them here in the States. While most authors believe that the main cause of groin pain is the adductor muscle overload, athletes usually just notice a dull ache starting to set in during activity. When checking this out, the adductor test is key. You have the patient lie on their back with their hips flexed at 80 degrees and abducted. If they feel a sharp sting while trying to pull their legs against resistance, the test is positive... The treatment of groin pain is complex and individual since everyone's situation is different. Generally, gradual physical therapy combined with pharmacotherapy should be effective in most cases. That usually means using NSAIDs or muscle relaxants alongside a PT routine focused on stretching and strengthening the adductors, abs, iliopsoas, quads, and hamstrings. If those don't do the trick, surgery becomes the next step, depending on what's actually causing the issue...

You're absolutely right, everything is much clearer now... 😂

Laugh all you want... laughing is basically an abdominal workout anyway... better than doing nothing at all. 🙂

Didn't you catch that study about how laptops on your lap affect things? Apparently, it causes heat buildup in the groin area, which messes with sperm production and lowers fertility, blah blah blah... I don't remember all the specifics, just try looking it up online somewhere.

Basically, it's nothing to mess around with. If you're holding it on your lap for long stretches, you really ought to break that bad habit... do some digging and get informed.

Back to the topic: I'm still in pain... what happens if it actually is that syndrome? When does it go away?

I don't watch Oz, sorry...

Hmm... when will it stop? If you use pain medication and stick to relative rest, it should clear up in about ten days. However, after that, you really need to address the root cause: focusing on proper muscle loading and strengthening. Of course, that assumes it's definitely Sportsman's Groin (PSG)... differential diagnoses could include other issues like localized lymph node inflammation, vascular issues, or an inguinal, femoral, or obturator hernia.
Maybe you should head to a doctor to get it checked out properly? 🙂

Look, it doesn't necessarily have to pop out near your abs... for instance, my old man had one pop out near his stomach, and my partner... well, I'm not saying where exactly in public🙂 so if you're lifting heavy right before this, there's a solid chance it's a hernia. Seriously, go see a doctor.

Groin pain issues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m 16 years old, and I’ve had my fair share of medical drama already—had surgery for a hernia six years ago, and then an appendectomy about four years back. Ever since that appendix surgery, I've been dealing with this nagging pain in my groin area whenever I move too quickly or stretch my legs out. To make matters worse, it triggers a dull ache in my right testicle as well. I went to see a specialist and had an ultrasound done, and while the doctor insisted everything looked fine—suggesting it might just be some internal scar tissue or adhesions—the discomfort hasn't actually gone away. It still hits me periodically, and frankly, it's getting old. Does anyone here have any experience with this or know what kind of treatment actually works for this kind of thing?
Thanks
