Grudge Match (2013)

It was honestly bound to happen eventually—we’re finally getting that showdown between Rocky Balboa and Jake LaMotta on the big screen. 😁 🙏 , in the upcoming comedy Grudge Match, starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro in the lead roles.



The whole story centers on two retired boxers—Billy "Tommy Kida" McDonnell (De Niro) and Henry "Razor" Sharp (Stallone)—who have been feuding for thirty straight years. It all went south because Razor walked away from the ring right before his massive fight against Tyson, basically killing both of their careers in one go.

But when a chance for a rematch finally lands on their doorstep, neither guy is going to pass it up. The catch is, with the media breathing down their necks and everyone on social media losing their minds over it, they both start feeling the pressure and hitting their breaking points.

Besides Sly and De Niro, the cast features Kim Basinger, Kevin Hart, Jon Bernthal, and Alan Arkin, all under the direction of Peter Segal.

The movie hits American theaters this Christmas.

Has anyone actually caught this movie in theaters yet? What's the verdict?

All I know is that it’s a must-watch since Sly is starring in it...

I can't quite decide if De Niro has simply lost his edge or if Stallone has finally matured into his roles. Perhaps it’s a bit of both? Regardless, looking at the big picture, the movie isn't a complete train wreck; it possesses a certain charm, and I have to admit that Basinger gave a pretty solid performance. Personally, I’d have a blast watching it, even if most people would probably spend the whole time tearing it to shreds.

Bottom line. This movie is way too much about boxing for Sly! If he’s gonna make a film like this, it really ought to be Rocky. This whole thing just doesn't make sense—it feels like they're just out there grabbing cash. A total disaster. 🙂

Great movie, the comedy was spot on. Just take it easy.

It's just a fun, lighthearted, and pretty silly movie.

What a total waste of time. These old guys decided to show off their torsos like they actually thought they were some kind of heartthrobs back in the 70s. It's ridiculous.

I couldn't help but notice how they basically turned this production into one giant commercial. They pulled in every sponsor imaginable, from tech companies to sports brands and apparel. It felt like Carhartt was raking in the most cash, followed by Under Armour, Acer, and the rest. The whole movie just feels like a freaking runway show for workwear. That Carhartt branding is impossible to miss.😁

Man, you’re totally out of it. Stallone didn't really hit it big with anything other than Rocky, and he's just been recycling that same formula ever since. It's like how one massive hit can carry a guy through his whole career.

Of course I didn't watch it. I don't waste my time on garbage. I skimmed through it pretty fast, maybe pausing for a second if a scene caught my eye—like when they were advertising a Carhartt cap & jacket...

It's like they say: you see the goal at the start, you're wise in the middle, and a fool by the end of the road. Only idiots sit through trash from start to finish just to realize halfway through that the movie isn't even their style.😁

Stallone’s made some killer movies besides just Rocky—look at First Blood, for instance. But you’re still just skimming through everything in five minutes, which is what you do with every single flick... honestly, you lose all credibility by even admitting that

Sure, they might be legends, but that doesn't change the fact that the movie just flops. As a comedy, it’s not even funny, and the drama? Total snooze fest. You just don't care about any of the characters at all.
I wouldn't call it an entertaining watch, honestly. Most of the time I was just bored out of my mind. The ending tries to save it a little, but De Niro looks ridiculous playing a boxer compared to how Stallone pulls it off...

The funny thing is, De Niro actually trained like a pro for his role in Raging Bull and even jumped into some real fights after that.

I'm talking about Stallone as an actor. He made fun movies, sure, but he knew how to deliver a great performance when the material was actually good, like in Cop Land.
