Gun permit info?

Look, I’m thinking about getting into hunting, so I wanted to ask—if I actually managed to get a permit for a handgun, how much would it run me just to buy the license for a standard 9mm? I'm 18 now, so I figured I'm good to go.

Join a hunting club, finish the training, and pass the exam. You aren't doing anything without that. ☕

Minors in sports clubs can actually use firearms—though they aren't allowed to own them!—specifically for things like target practice at the range. As for joining a hunting club, if I remember correctly, any adult citizen in the USA can join... provided they pass the exam, obviously.

So, how does one actually go about getting a permit for a handgun under Category B if you aren't into hunting or competitive shooting?
Apparently, there’s an option for self-defense, but you have to provide some sort of specific justification for why your safety is being threatened (???)
I mean, come on... seriously?

Has anyone here actually managed to pull that off and get a permit this way?
