Hey everyone, I really need some advice because my digestion is a total mess right now..

I hadn't gone for about a week—which was awful—so I tried an Ex-Lax suppository... When I finally made it to the bathroom, there was hardly anything there, just some mucus with traces of blood. It was incredibly painful, probably from the suppository itself...

Since then, people have suggested all sorts of things... I've tried magnesium supplements, taking Gatorade morning and night, eating dried prunes, drinking super sweet coffee, and I've even cycled through Activia, Sensible, Bio-Active... but absolutely nothing is getting things moving...

My gut is constantly churning and I feel totally wiped out—just exhausted and miserable. Everything aches, probably because those toxins are just sitting there... I can eat normally, but as soon as I finish a meal, it feels like I’ve eaten a massive feast. My stomach feels heavy and I'm dealing with constant cramps... I am drinking plenty of water, though...

So, I'm looking for suggestions... does anyone know of any homemade remedies or specific over-the-counter stuff that actually works? 😢

Maybe try some Ex-Lax tablets? If you take two around 2 PM—just an arbitrary guess based on my own chaotic timing—it should hopefully kick in by morning. Honestly, those suppositories... they just don't seem to cut it for me.

If even all of this didn't clear things up, I doubt Ex-Lax tablets will do much either... Go see a doctor. That blood makes me suspicious, though maybe it’s just from straining... a burst capillary or something...
But you've eaten everything in sight... If that were me, I wouldn't be able to get off the toilet for a year after an ordeal like that 😬

If you're seeing mucus or blood in your stool, you really should get a colonoscopy done. I guess you ought to see a Gastroenterologist immediately, because things could potentially be VERY serious.

I don't want to scare you, but a friend of mine went through something similar—she was backed up for a week, got hit with these agonizing intestinal cramps, and ended up in the ER... To make a long story short, it turned out she had a cluster of polyps in her colon—but since the ER staff didn't catch it right away, they had to perform surgery, and I think they even had to remove part of her small intestine because it had started to necrotize...

And honestly, I struggle with this too, though I have to admit my longest stretch without a bowel movement was maybe 3 or 4 days—which is still way too long, especially when you feel bloated like an animal and can't even sleep at night because of the discomfort...😢

As for the blood, I'm going to side with everyone telling you to see a Gastroenterologist and get a colonoscopy scheduled—that blood is likely just internal hemorrhoids from straining (that happened to me recently; I had a colonoscopy because of occult bleeding, so the blood wasn't even visible to the naked eye)...

You aren't going to enjoy the colonoscopy 🙂 but you really just need to find out what's actually going on...

Please hurry and good luck...😉

You can always opt for a private colonoscopy under anesthesia. It’ll cost you more, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad...

btw if you have a connection, I could probably get you anesthesia at the hospital too 😉

besides, in most other countries, they almost always perform a colonoscopy under anesthesia...

I feel like I’ve been fighting this losing battle forever, just constantly struggling to find some semblance of relief. But finally, after all that searching, I stumbled upon these tablets that actually contain aloe vera. I looked up the brands we carry here in the States, and let me tell you—they are absolutely incredible. Seriously, they are a total game-changer.

Finally, my digestion is back to normal. As for that blood issue, it was just a ruptured capillary from straining way too hard—nothing more than a temporary glitch in the system. And let me tell you, those vaccines? They’re absolutely useless; they don't do nearly enough to actually protect you. Regarding the medication, while Ex-Lax does the job effectively, the smell is frankly revolting, at least in my opinion, because the tablets start dissolving almost immediately once they hit your mouth.

Look, here’s the drill: you take two tablets at night right before you hit the sack, then you repeat that the following evening, and by the third morning, you’ll have undergone a complete internal purge. As for those specific supplements meant to regulate your digestive rhythm, I'll get back to you once I've done some digging.🤣

Hey... if you're actually looking for something that works, you might want to try some Kombucha SCOBY stuff... it's all-natural, tastes pretty decent too... and honestly, there's zero way it could be bad for you.

I've already tried a batch myself, and look, I can tell you straight up—it really helps with digestion... so if you're interested, I can give you some of mine once my culture finishes multiplying in a few days.😉

You can read more about this stuff right here and check out what other people have experienced

Here they are... honestly, they’re absolute game-changers, and you can probably find them sitting on the shelf of any local CVS or Walgreens right now.

Listen, everyone, pills aren't a magic fix for everything. You really need to look at your diet. Instead of grabbing sandwiches, processed deli meats, or fast food from McDonald's, try focusing on high-fiber foods. Drink plenty of water and make sure you're getting out for a walk instead of just sitting around.😉😍

Look, I couldn't agree more—if you want to see any actual results, you absolutely have to overhaul your entire diet! It’s like trying to run a high-performance engine on low-grade, sludge-filled fuel; you can buy all the fancy supplements and medications you want, but if the foundation is garbage, the whole system is going to stall out eventually. You simply cannot expect your body to function at its peak when you're constantly feeding it junk. Changing what's on your plate isn't just some optional suggestion; it's the fundamental starting point for everything else.
Look, what can you even say when the majority of us—myself included—are stuck grinding away at some desk job all day? You finally drag yourself through the front door after a grueling shift, only to find a baby waiting for you, and before you even have a second to breathe, you’re just shoving whatever food is within arm's reach into your mouth just to survive the moment. It's a constant cycle of rushing.

You're absolutely right.👍

Well, you aren't exactly giving us an update on how you're doing or if things have improved. But seriously, if you haven't already—get to a Proctologist ASAP. What you're describing could be symptoms of a perianal or perirectal abscess, which is a life-threatening emergency that needs immediate surgery! That little bit of mucus you mentioned might actually be pus, and an abscess is basically a major collection of infection. An abscess can press against the end of your colon and block it entirely, so that constipation you're feeling might actually be caused by that. Plus, it can spread through your body and lead to sepsis. That’s why you need to run to a specialist right now to see if that's what's going on; if it is, it becomes a surgical emergency (just like appendicitis!) and you'll need to head into the OR immediately. I'm not trying to freak you out, but please take this seriously... Good luck, I'm rooting for you! 👍

...I'm dealing with the same thing. About two weeks ago, I had some really hard, painful constipation. It finally passed, but it was a total struggle. Since then, nothing has happened for several days. I don't even feel the urge to go, which is weird because my diet is great and nothing usually bothers me. I've tried everything—different yogurts, juices... I don't even drink coffee, but I tried that too and it didn't help. Five days ago, I used an Ex-Lax suppository; it worked a little, but not much. It's been five days since then and still nothing. Honestly, I'm a bit worried because I don't know what to do. Should I just see a Gastroenterologist? Or should I try a syrup or something else first?

Thanks for the reply... 😢

A colonoscopy is honestly the only way to get some peace of mind!
Look, I know it’s unpleasant and most people try to dodge it, but if you actually look into the procedure (I just had mine done today), you'll see why it matters. It’s really the only definitive way to figure out what’s actually going on inside.
It’s better to just get it over with now so you have answers. You don't want to be five or ten years down the road, hitting your head against a wall wishing you'd just gone in sooner. Trust me, it happens more often than you'd think...

A colonoscopy is an invasive, painful procedure—you don't just go in for no reason, right? You wait until a specialist gives you the referral!
Honestly, I’m totally horrified by all this random advice being thrown around without any actual thought—do you guys even realize how many people have had their bowels perforated because of improper prep?!!
Sweetie, just go see a doctor and tell them everything—that's literally what they're there for! If we could cure diseases on internet forums, medical school would have been shut down years ago!
The girl is dealing with constipation, and look, there are plenty of effective meds out there, including natural options!

Hey everyone 🙂 thanks for all the advice..

Just checking in to say things finally cleared up on their own (or maybe all that fiber I was eating actually did the trick 😁)

I'm doing fine now—my doctor basically gave me an ultimatum: either get things moving myself or prepare for a trip to the hospital for some kind of colonoscopy or whatever... so I stepped up my game 🙂

For anyone struggling, I’d suggest having some chocolate milk every morning and night along with some probiotics—maybe some Activia or even just some Greek yogurt... hopefully this doesn't happen again.. ☕

It looks like the original poster is feeling better, but I wanted to share my own experience here.

I’ve had to undergo a colonoscopy twice now. The first time, I really struggled to get through that prep liquid they gave me. They suggested using mineral water as an extra way to flush things out, so I decided to go that route to make sure everything was clear before the procedure.

Some people seem to say that mineral water doesn't do much for them.
If you want to ensure you are completely cleared out, the mineral water needs to be warm. During the winter, I actually set the bottle on a radiator, or I'll just gently warm it up in the microwave.

In my opinion, it works for everyone eventually... personally, mineral water works best for me.

When I was prepping for my last colonoscopy, I didn't eat anything after lunch the day before. Instead, I just sipped on warm mineral water. I ended up drinking about 8 liters of it, and my system was completely clear by the time the procedure started.

I still deal with some occasional bowel irregularities, but if I drink some warm mineral water in the morning, things settle right back down.

Look, I'll give you a pass, but you're talking such total nonsense it's unbelievable! What do you mean "perforated bowel" or "pain"? Have you actually ever had one done? A colonoscopy isn't painful; it’s just uncomfortable. If there's any pain at all, it’s just a momentary thing when they're navigating the turns. Stop scaring people with these ridiculous claims... 🙄🙄
