Couldn't find a specific thread for this, so feel free to move it if it belongs elsewhere—thanks.
Quick question—and just to be clear, I’ve already seen a doctor. I’m just trying to avoid sitting in his usual endless waiting room again just to ask one thing.
So, I had a hangnail on my finger, and—don't judge—I ended up picking at it. A little while later, it got inflamed and developed what looks like "granulation tissue"—basically just this angry, red, swollen chunk of flesh sticking out.
Just to clarify, it's not an ingrown nail; it's definitely from messing with the cuticle.
The doc prescribed some Beyoncé cream and told me to use it for 2–3 weeks.
I’ve been on it for 4 days now, and honestly, the pain is almost gone when I touch it—except for one tiny spot, which is also fading.
What I don't get is how this antibiotic ointment actually works on that "extra meat."
It started small, inflamed, and red, but now it's actually getting bigger and softer, which is tripping me out—shouldn't it be shrinking instead of growing?
It's weird because the inflammation and pain are dying down, but the "flesh" part isn't.
Is this just how it goes? Does it have to go through this phase before it turns into dead tissue that eventually just falls off or gets clipped away?
