Having trouble changing my avatar

So, I spent part of my afternoon trying to update my profile picture, but I keep hitting a wall. Every time I try to upload an image directly, it just fails, and the same thing happens when I attempt to link one via a URL.
When I try the direct upload, I get this error: Upload of file failed. If I try using a URL instead, it tells me Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.
I’ve already tested this on both Firefox and Opera, but no luck there either.

Edit: If more people start running into this, it’s probably just some glitch with Reddit...

Just tried it again. Still nothing. It looks like there’s an issue with Reddit itself.

You really should chmod at /tmp

It’s basically just a "message" sent up the chain of command, but honestly, there isn't much we can do on our end right now.

Changing the permissions on the tmp folder, so users are actually able to write to it. 🙂

I’m having the same issue. It won't let me upload a new profile picture, even though it wiped my old one without any trouble at all...

It's a JPG, and actually slightly under 75x75. And it still won't work.

It just won't work for me either, so could someone who actually knows what they're doing please help me out?
Ideally, if you could provide a screenshot or at least write it out in plain English.
I use Facebook for everything, uploading all sorts of content without any issues normally.
The post seems to register fine when I hit "preview," but the moment I click "send," absolutely nothing happens!
Is it even worth reaching out to the moderators about this?
