Alright, here’s the deal... I used to run my whole system off a 500GB HDD as the main boot drive. A few months back, I finally upgraded to an SSD and moved Windows over to it. I went ahead and formatted the old HDD, but either I botched the settings somewhere or I'm just being blind, because now it looks like I can only access about 350GB of space on that drive.

Do I need to go through the whole hassle of a full format to reclaim the rest, or is there some kind of trick to fixing this?

Do I need to wipe the whole drive again, or is there a workaround?

Just right-click that 319GB partition and hit "Extend Volume." Merge that extra 100-plus gigs of unallocated space back into it, and you're done.

It’s just not going to happen. I’ve already given it a shot

Did you actually click on the D drive first, then select "extend volume"? Looking at your screenshot, it doesn't look like it happened.
Before you try that, go ahead and delete that 857 MB partition—you don't need it cluttering things up.
Also, why is the disk set to dynamic? You really should switch it back to basic.

I can't seem to get rid of that 857 partition for the life of me. Every time I try to right-click on it, the only option that pops up is Help. There isn't even a "delete volume" choice in the menu.

Why not try using the diskpart command? You could just wipe everything on that drive and then create a single new partition from scratch.
