So, about five or six days ago, I was having sex, and right at the start of the orgasm, I felt this sudden, terrifying pain in the back of my head near the neck—like intense tingling combined with this heavy blood pulsing sensation. It hit me so hard I had to just freeze up immediately; everything just went numb. Then, we tried again the very next day, and the exact same thing happened to me, though it hit midway through the orgasm and felt a little less intense. Last night, I tried to be careful and go for it again... things seemed fine at first, but then right toward the end, that same sharp pain came crashing back. The weird part is, during the actual act itself, there wasn't any warning or anything to suggest something was off.

Honestly, I’m pretty rattled right now, both mentally and physically. I've never experienced anything even remotely like this. For context, I'm a middle-aged guy. My wife thinks it might be related to high blood pressure—I don't have a history of hypertension, though—or maybe just spending way too much time hunched over a computer. Either way, I am definitely not stepping back into the bedroom until I get checked out by a professional.

It feels a bit awkward trying to explain these specific details to a doctor, so if anyone here knows their stuff, please weigh in. Could this be an issue with clogged arteries or poor circulation? Am I looking at a potential stroke risk here?

It might just be a matter of stress, honestly, though I can't really give you a straight answer on those other points without digging much deeper into everything first... anyway, don't even sweat the details when you're explaining things, because let's be real, sexuality is just a standard part of being human, and there isn't a single thing about it that should bother any of us, so there's absolutely no reason for you to feel awkward or like this is some huge burden to carry...

I experienced an identical situation once upon a time.
It was roughly 12 or 13 years ago.
I didn't seek medical attention from any doctors.
The issue simply resolved itself without much delay.
Consequently, I stopped worrying about it.
Fortunately, I rarely suffer from headaches.
However, over the past week, the pain has returned—specifically just above the occipital area on the right side. This time, however, it isn't triggered by orgasm; instead, it starts mildly in the morning and intensifies toward the end of the day.
Now, I find myself quite perplexed...
Perhaps it will merely pass again...

Well, I might as well wrap this thread up since I started it. After about a month, I finally went in for a follow-up with my neurologist—though, truth be told, the pain had already cleared up on its own. He mentioned that these kinds of cases actually show up in medical literature and that this sort of discomfort can just spontaneously vanish, much like how a sudden summer thunderstorm clears out as quickly as it rolls in. He gave me a diagnosis of "orgasmusheadache" and sent me off for a brain CT scan just to be safe. And thank God, everything came back perfectly normal. He told me I can just drop by for a check-up whenever I feel like it.
