That scene where Tensy (Gene Hackman) & Ulga (Sigourney Weaver) are sitting in the restaurant. The look on her face when she realizes what she actually ordered. That whole bit where she’s speaking Russian to the waiter. And then her singing in the restaurant. 😂

I’ve actually watched this one twice now; there’s just something about this comedy that really sticks with you. For me, the standout was definitely Ray Liotta—he was absolutely brilliant playing up those shady, low-life characters he usually reserves for much grittier crime dramas. It’s hilarious seeing him take that edge and turn it into something so ridiculous, like when things go south during a fishing trip and someone pulls a gun 🤣 The so-called "Olga" character was also a total riot. My favorite sequence has to be when she and the kid try to outsmart that nasty housekeeper, only for everything to descend into absolute chaos. There are plenty of other gems scattered throughout, but I won't spoil them; you’ll have to see for yourself :P If I had to nitpick, some of the conflicts feel a bit rushed toward the end, or they just get swept under the rug without much payoff, though I suppose you can't expect deep character arcs from a lighthearted comedy. The pacing could have used a little more breathing room in certain spots too.

Honestly, this is easily one of the most brilliant comedies ever made. I ended up rewatching it this past Friday. Sigourney Weaver and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis are absolutely perfect as that duo of con artists—and Olivia’s attempt at a fake Russian accent? Pure gold. Toss in that singing attempt by Karabuschke and you have a non-stop barrage of hilarious moments. 🤣Gene Hackman and Ray Liotta are also top-tier here.

That ending where Max and James Dean pull a fast one on her mentor right after she fleeces them... 🙏

Seriously, such an insane cast for a movie that totally flew under the radar...

This is truly a fantastic comedy, easily one of the best I've seen. The entire cast delivers such stellar performances. Sigourney Weaver is absolutely brilliant here; I have always had a soft spot for that restaurant scene where she has to break into song. To me, that ranks as her second most iconic moment. My top pick, of course, remains that intense sequence from the first Alien movie where she’s fighting for her life in that cramped shuttle while struggling to get into her space suit.

Oh man, those scenes where she’s stuck singing her heart out in front of a packed house, just nodding along to everything that Russian waiter was rambling about 🙏 🙏
I honestly find this whole thing hilarious; it’s definitely one of the last decent comedies we’ve seen in a while.

Max is an absolute icon, pulling off that fake Russian accent right before deportation to impersonate Tensy. 🤣 That restaurant scene is peak—watching her eat meat with pure disgust while chatting up the waiter "Yeah? / Yeah!" and trying anything to dodge singing in Russian.
"It's such a joy to hear my native tongue again. I deeply appreciate what you say and what you don't say, eh?"
Then there's Tensy pushing those cigarettes like they’re high fashion, making Max recoil from kissing him because of the smell, even when she brings him back to life by inhaling that smoke. 😂

When Tensy wakes her up saying he’s got a gift, she jumps and blurts out "what?" only to realize she dropped the accent, so she repeats the shock to fix it. Then comes the personalized lighter. 😂

That moment where she begs Dean for another shot, playing dumb and acting sweet while he's threatening them both, only for him to shut her down? She drops the act immediately and snaps "fine!" 😂
