Could the moderator in charge of the Mother-in-Law thread over at the IRS explain why my posts keep getting deleted—even when I haven't broken any rules?
I honestly don't get what criteria they're using to wipe them out.

Earlier this afternoon, I posted something about lunch at my mother-in-law's—it was pretty polite and lighthearted, so I'm a bit baffled that it was just removed without any explanation or warning.

What kind of moderation is that, anyway?

The most common move by the mods on that thread is just deleting the chat.

Can you explain how you decide what counts as chat?
If I write two sentences about a topic, it’s considered chat and gets deleted—but if I write ten, does it suddenly fall into some other category and become allowed?

I’m not really sure who I was actually chatting with in that last post you deleted—the one where I was just continuing the story about lunch at my mother-in-law's.
What exactly made that chat?

Since the moderator isn't responding anymore, maybe the admins could weigh in—does this comment count as being off-topic in the chat, and should it be deleted under the same rules?

I guess this whole situation is just unclear to me, unfortunately.

I’d really love to get a clear definition of what "chatting" actually means in the context of this thread.
For months now, I’ve been getting my posts wiped constantly under the guise of "chatting." I haven't insulted anyone—and even the moderator agrees on that point—I’m simply adding my two cents to an ongoing discussion about mother-in-laws, yet my posts vanish in a heartbeat. To make matters worse, if I dare to ask why they were removed (since there’s zero justification), I end up getting a strike. That happened to me just the other day.
Hey, Stemajzl, why don't you give us a concrete definition of "chatting" for this topic? And once you're done, maybe you can go ahead and wipe out your own chatting in there too. 🙂
The truth is, there are several other people here who are just as confused as I am as to why their contributions are being deleted so frequently (and you know exactly who they are), especially since they aren't picking fights with anyone.

That’s about right.
There aren't really any rules—nobody answers questions in this section of the forum much anyway—and they often let those nasty comments about "the daughters-in-law" slide under the guise of "just chatting." It all gets tolerated, I guess.

I don't see things changing around here anytime soon.

Didn't catch the deleted posts myself
but I definitely saw all the casual chatting and hanging out
where Stemajzl is basically setting the tone
which honestly just looks twice as rude
Why won't he just be straight with us when asked!

That kind of attitude just turns everything into a personal grudge!!

Look, there is a massive difference between having a dedicated thread about mothers-in-law and actually using this space to report on every single mundane detail of their lives—whether she’s just finished the laundry, whipped up some lunch, or if you dropped by her place in Chicago for a meal (or even just to write about it), or when people start spiraling into these endless group discussions because they happen to have a mother-in-law... it’s just something else entirely.

No wonder everything is wrong!!!

I skimmed the thread. People are talking about everything.
What mothers-in-law buy for their sons, how they act like witches,
how they set traps, how they drive,
what they wear, how they look...
Cudesan is a wild world with all these messy relationships.
It's pointless to mess with it from the outside
by deleting stuff that doesn't even have a solid basis.
I'm sure Jose White18 would bring up a reason if he actually had one!
He loves being the lone wolf, especially when there's plenty to talk about!

The worst part is they're all joking around and chilling there,
but the second a problem pops up, things get tense immediately!
Did those mothers-in-law infect them or something?
Now everyone's just locking up and shutting down!

Look, what you’re actually seeing here is exactly what’s laid out in the thread
The section that got scrubbed is gone for a reason—you can't read it, so there's really no point in trying to judge it either
If the mods weren't actually doing their jobs, this whole place would just turn into a wasteland of junk posts and mindless filler, and honestly, we’d all lose interest pretty fast, including the people who actually bother to write anything worthwhile

She mentioned writing about dinner at her mother-in-law's
and there's plenty of stuff written about that topic already
if she said something offensive or out of line, someone should just tell her!
If she's too obsessed with her mother-in-law
she might as well start a whole new thread specifically for that!

so with a little effort, things could turn out way better than this!

It's weird to me that talking about mother-in-laws in a mother-in-law thread counts as trolling!
Those two know exactly what was in the deleted posts and why they happened
it'd be better if those two were the ones talking about it here
instead of us two!

are just trying to dodge the mods and admins!

It’s because it is a small thing. I don't see anything to defend myself against. Should I explain why I deleted a couple of posts from one random user who thinks her content was too good to lose? Or why I nuked an occasional poster's mediocre comment instantly just because I happened to be online watching the thread? Apparently, I should have waited a few minutes for her specifically before deleting it. People love to complain...

But fine, since I have to remind the local crowd every few pages anyway, we might as well go over it again here.
The 'Mother-in-Law' section isn't a chat topic and those 'Mother-in-Law' threads aren't reserved exclusively for daughters-in-law or meant to be their private little support group.

Every few months, a warning like this is necessary to remind the users who get worked up when they encounter something other than mindless sympathy and coddling. Some people are satisfied with a simple warning post, others are fine with posts being deleted, and some won't listen even if you hand them a ban. To each their own...
