Hey everyone!

Hey everyone, I’ve got this upper left tooth that’s basically rotting away. It isn't completely gone yet—cavities have claimed less than half the tooth—but the decay has hit the gum line, and sometimes the nerve starts acting up and causing real pain. Here’s the weird part: I've realized that whenever it starts throbbing, it smells absolutely horrific, like some foul gas is leaking out of it. Does the throbbing actually have anything to do with the stench? When the tooth is calm, the smell isn't really there, but when it flares up, it stinks like someone stuffed a trash bag inside my mouth. Can someone please explain why it reeks specifically when it pulses, and what the hell is actually happening inside the tooth? I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about dental stuff, but this pulsing sensation is driving me crazy because I don't get the connection.🙂
