Timothy Olyphant is playing Agent 47, so as far as the acting goes, there’s really nothing to worry about—the guy will nail his part, likely even better than you'd expect. If you take a closer look at the game, 47 is incredibly reserved, calm, and doesn't waste words; that's exactly what we can anticipate from the film. The other reason—and why I'm actually relieved he landed the role—is that Vin Diesel was originally considered. Don't get me wrong, I think he's great, but this specific character just wouldn't have fit him...

It’ll be fine!👍 😎

They really should have cast Jason Statham (Snatch, Crank, The Transporter)

Look, I’ve got absolutely nothing against Olyphant, Statham, or even Vin Diesel. But did it ever cross anyone's mind to go with David Bateson? He's the guy who actually provides the voice for Agent 47 in the game and serves as the literal blueprint for how 47 is modeled... honestly, he’d be my number one pick...

On this page, there's a critique of the screenplay—which is supposedly top-tier.

I honestly don't see the point in video game adaptations. In the games themselves, characters like Agent Price are often written quite shallowly—which isn't even a flaw, really—because it works perfectly when the focus is on the action rather than endless dialogue. There are a few rare exceptions where developers actually put in the work to deliver an incredible story alongside great mechanics, but usually, the plot just serves as a foundation for the gameplay. Now, if you turn that into a movie, you have to wonder: is it actually going to be interesting? When you're watching a screen, you're just a passive observer instead of an active participant in the experience. Maybe these adaptations are only meant for the hardcore fans who live and breathe the franchise. Personally, I’ve played Hitman, but there is absolutely no way I’m sitting through a movie ☕

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion—and certainly the right to share it—but refusing to watch the film seems like a massive missed opportunity to me...🙄 Especially since you claim to have played the game, yet you insist the stories are shallow? You played Max Payne??? In that case, please, do enlighten me again regarding that "shallow" narrative...😠

Or look at Metal Gear Solid. Honestly, the storytelling there beats most movies out there...

I don't think Max Payne serves as a legitimate example of deep or high-quality storytelling. Don't get me wrong—it's an excellent game—but the plot is essentially just a pale imitation of 1940s and 50s noir films. In my view, it wouldn't even work as a standalone movie without significant structural changes.

Look, I’ve played Max Payne, and cosmicraven2 already gave you an answer. My point was simply that when you're actually playing, the "shallowness" doesn't even matter—you're too busy immersed in the gameplay to notice. However—and this is the crucial distinction—the way those stories are structured just doesn't translate well into a traditional cinematic format.

The game is just absolutely killing me right now
I honestly think someone like a gritty character from an old Western could pull off this role 🤮

Otherwise, my top pick would definitely have to be Collina

😕 Well... the film is currently in post-production and should be hitting theaters in just a few months.

A high school quarterback might be a bit too "clean-cut" for a role like Hitman—but man, Collina would be perfect. It would basically be a total massacre of red cards!

Has anyone watched any good movies lately?

Is it worth downloading stuff online? I'm pretty much broke after paying my bills this month. 😁

Judging by the trailer, the lead actor doesn't quite capture the essence of 47. Honestly, if he just ditched the eyebrow, we might actually be getting somewhere here. 🤔 image

😁

It feels more like they cast an actress than an actor here; they really could have picked someone with a much tougher edge.

Just finished watching...
It's actually good. Honestly, I might even go as far as saying it’s the best adaptation of a game out there right now.
Doesn't look cheap at all, the lead is killer, and the plot holds up—it's like Jason Bourne, except instead of being some soft pushover, he actually knows how to handle himself.🙏

My one gripe is that it feels a bit too talky. I mean, whatever, inevitable since we're following the main guy, but my real issue is how they did the whole female character thing. It's such a tired action movie trope... even she basically admitted there was zero reason to keep her alive...
I mean, just let him finish the job already. It felt so awkward. If he had just professionally taken her out at the end, the movie would've been freaking amazing... but nope, everything just leans into those same old clichés...
Still, the movie is pretty damn solid.👍
