Honestly, looking at all the venting and bashing going on in these forums lately—especially with how crazy prices are getting and those endless news stories about shady doctors—I just felt like I had to get this off my chest.

So, I just spent six days over at the Holy Spirit medical center recovering from surgery. And man, in all those six days, I didn't encounter a single judgmental look, let alone a grumpy face, any neglect, or even a hint of carelessness.

Actually, it was the total opposite. Like, the nurse who gets a little "annoyed" because we aren't ringing the call button constantly instead of just getting up ourselves, or the cleaning staff who scrub the whole ward twice a day and still bring you food right to your bed even if you're perfectly able to walk... then there were the doctors who actually sit down and talk to you about every tiny little detail, always smiling and ready to explain anything you're curious about...

Anyway, I really just want to say a huge thank you to Dr. Bauman, the green-eyed anesthesiologist (who actually stuck to our plan and didn't wake me up with a plate of blueberry muffins and cheddar cheese like we discussed 😁), the entire staff, and especially all the nurses on the floor. Sending so much love to my girls over in the cheerful room.

I had a surprisingly smooth experience myself during my nuclear medicine scan at the local Mayo Clinic facility... from the nursing staff (shout out to the ladies—they actually gave me some tips on setting up my TV antenna so I wouldn't go stir-crazy while in quarantine) all the way down to the attending physicians. My roommate, a guy in his mid-60s, was actually moved to tears by how much humanity they showed us...
It made me wonder if being exposed to daily radiation somehow drained the malice right out of people..

But honestly, I have to say, before that, I was at a different wing of the same hospital where we were treated like mere patients rather than actual human beings with feelings... ¤

So, I went under the knife at a local clinic for my vocal cords and thyroid, and honestly, the medical staff were all wonderful 🙂
but man, the crew over at the ENT department... yikes. Let's just say their hygiene wasn't exactly "top tier"... definitely not the kind of vibe you want when you're wearing something a little more revealing 😬

It’s actually kind of nice to stumble upon something like this on a thread where you're usually just bracing for everyone to start throwing shade. 🙂
But then again, I guess it's honestly pretty pathetic that people even have to make entire posts just to address how they're being treated—that kind of basic decency should be the baseline, shouldn't it?

But then again, it's pretty pathetic that people have to start entire threads just to deal with being treated like garbage. That kind of behavior should be the baseline, not the exception.

But hey, whatever... people can be total jerks sometimes. It's just human nature I guess... 😢

niksicka. she’s listened to my voice memos since I was in elementary school... then she went through surgery for polyps, followed by thyroid issues. now I’ve got my energy back, but let’s be real, I’m never going to sound like a nightingale again 😢

Is it actually true that they drag out every single isolated incident in the news just to make it look like everything is falling apart? It feels like they take one tiny thing and blow it way out of proportion just to give you this impression that the whole country is in a state of total catastrophe. 😁

I’ve had some pretty wonderful experiences with doctors myself. I mean, honestly, my primary care physician is hands down the most incredible healthcare professional I’ve ever met, and my dentist isn't far behind them either. 🙂

I’ve been hospitalized 14 times back home in the States, plus two births—which I don't even count as being sick, I guess—and honestly, I’ve never had a bad experience. Except for the food, which was always pretty terrible, but whatever, when you're starving you just eat it and 🙂
I was in France once, at a private hospital, and everything was so high-end. I actually got served asparagus and really fancy meals; my waiter even wore this expensive little tuxedo with a tie. The doctors were great too, and they’ll get a second opinion for basically anything... but they weren't nearly as warm or friendly as people back home. And don't even get me started on the nurses; our American nurses are seriously the best in the world! Growing up, spending time in an infectious disease ward taught me how to change pillowcases faster than anyone, and I almost always find myself bringing that up whenever I'm arguing with my husband about whether his way is more like a soldier's or a hospital style.

Oh, and about starting this thread for shout-outs and praise...

I guess I’m definitely gonna be one of the first people to kick something off, especially when things go south (whether it's with a doctor or just life in general). I mean, I totally feel like I have a legal right to vent and warn everyone else if something's messed up. Like, I'd be such a jerk if I was just publicly calling people out all the time but then stayed quiet and swept all the good stuff under the rug.

Yeah, I know, it's pretty standard for people to act the way they do. But honestly, standards here in the States (and not just in healthcare, really) can be so much lower than what they should be, so I appreciate it even more when someone actually puts in the effort. You know, like a kind word or a genuine smile, or even just being gentle when waking you up at 6 AM—which, by the way, I've already slept through, while that same nurse is stuck on an 11-hour shift.

Anyway, yeah, that's why I'm making this topic.

I have gathered intelligence from more than a few reliable sources suggesting that the gynecology department over at Mercy Hospital is nothing short of stellar. In fact, quite a few women have already taken the time to pen their heartfelt testimonials.🙂 A close friend of mine actually gave birth there when she was just seventeen—terrified, overwhelmed, and navigating the whole ordeal entirely on her own—yet she later remarked that the entire experience was seamless, largely because the staff went out of their way to offer such steady encouragement.

The gynecology department at Mayo Clinic is truly exceptional... I was a patient there last year following an ovarian surgery (Gin 1), and honestly, the entire staff went above and beyond.👍

I don't know if I totally caught the drift of the original post, but man, I think I’d actually lose my mind if my kid was stuck in a hospital bed and I was the one stuck having to change all the linens myself.
