With my injury—and let's be clear, this was a very serious injury—nobody even bothered to actually look at the wound itself, except for a young resident the following day. They sent me off for imaging, then I had to go back just to get a second referral for another scan. It was a very serious injury, located in a highly problematic area, too. To be fair, the nurses were wonderful, as was the young doctor who was actually being kind and taking her job seriously. Honestly, it would have taken him one single minute to write that second referral so he could have gone back to whatever he wanted to do. He didn't even examine the wound, though he certainly knew where it was and that it could have been life-threatening. That’s just how some doctors are.
