So, I’ve just got one question here... I wore braces from when I was about 12 until I turned 14, and my orthodontist told me back then that my teeth were perfectly straight. But the thing is—and this is what's bugging me—I've always had these little gaps between my front teeth, and I honestly thought the braces were supposed to fix that part of it. Now that I'm 16, I finally decided to go back and get it sorted out once and for all, but when I saw the orthodontist again, he actually told me I can't get braces just because of those gaps! Is that actually true?!

Hey everyone!
So, I’m looking for some advice because I’m feeling a bit unsure about something. Is it actually possible to get a new referral for an orthodontist and start the whole braces process over again? I turn 16 next month, so I still have two years until I'm legally an adult. Honestly, when I was just a little kid, I absolutely refused to wear those removable retainers, and eventually, my mom just gave up on the whole thing. Now? Yeah, I totally regret it. But I think I'm finally ready to deal with it. I checked out the clinic over on Main Street, but I was wondering about the one over in the suburbs instead. Does anyone have any firsthand experience there?
Or maybe you could recommend a decent clinic that takes standard insurance?

You probably just won't get it covered by insurance.

I turn 16 next month, so I've only got about two years until I'm officially an adult. Honestly, when I was a little kid, I totally refused to wear those removable ones, and then my mom just stopped taking me to the appointments... Now I'm really regretting it, but I think I can still go back to the orthodontist. I checked out a clinic over in Chicago, but I was wondering about that one in Seattle instead. Has anyone been there? Is it any good?
Or maybe you know a good clinic where insurance covers most of it?

Ugh, tell me about it... I went through the exact same thing. When I was little, I was so stubborn and didn't want them, and now I seriously regret it. I tried going back using my insurance and it wasn't even a big deal, they just told me I need to start ASAP. They said we have to wait for some official letter telling us to come in for impressions. We asked how long the wait would be and the guy was just like, "Oh, maybe two years." And since I'm 16, by the time two years pass, I'll be an adult and won't be able to use my parents' insurance anymore. He even added that we should feel lucky because so many kids are waiting even longer... I guess you should just try though, you've got nothing to lose unless you end up like me.
