How to insert rows in Excel

Hello,
I am encountering an issue where I am unable to insert a row above my selected line.
When I select the row and attempt to use the insert command, nothing happens. I am currently working in Excel 2002.
The only way I can successfully insert a row is by placing it beneath the selection.
If anyone happens to know a solution, I would appreciate the assistance.

So, what's your take on this entire bizarre 'situation'?
Did you follow the replies in that thread of yours (assuming it was actually yours—but even if it wasn't)?

Perhaps you might try to insert it beneath 😁; once you have done that, you can simply copy and paste enough lines to create the necessary blank space

On a different note, is a print screen feasible? Furthermore, are the cells within this table linked via any specific relations—specifically, formulas?

It is only through such precision that we might observe what was noted above and allow my own minor contribution to contribute toward the singularity of the solution

Are we working with Windows 7 or some other legacy system? I shall prepare an emulator if this isn't resolved before then.

Is this some kind of joke?
Excel always inserts ABOVE.

Unless someone totally butchered the spreadsheet with hidden rows, merged cells, setting row heights to zero, or whatever else...

Just open a fresh, blank Excel document, type the letter "A" in the first row, and see for yourself—it always inserts above.

It doesn't go above or below; you just insert it directly into whichever row you clicked on.

Just select the row above the one you want and then hit insert.

Like, if you need a blank row right above row 10, just highlight row 9 and hit insert—then you'll have your empty row sitting right above row 10.
