How do I print in black only on an HP DesignJet so I can bypass the other three colors?☕

Just head into your properties, hit Advanced Settings, and then check the Black ink only STRIKE.

Great, now it's just begging me to go out and buy more ink.
I didn't explain myself very well, so here are some photos to clarify.

Basically, I have plenty of black left, but I don't need these three (yellow, cyan, and magenta). They stay in reserve for when I actually want color, but they're always showing up as "low," and the printer keeps demanding I replace them all.
--- In the past, I used to buy the full sets, but the color would run out in about six weeks. ----
And I'd be printing color docs on cheap 15-cent paper.
Is there some kind of software for HP DesignJet—or maybe something universal—that lets you program these settings manually?

Basically, my black ink is fine, but I don't even need the other three (yellow, blue, and red) because I only ever print in black. But the machine keeps acting like they're empty and demands all of them.

And I was mostly just printing color stuff on cheap paper
Is there some kind of software for an HP OfficeJet or maybe something universal that I can program to bypass this?

Man, it feels like there aren't any free fixes left these days. You could try messing around with SST utility, but honestly, it usually feels like more of a headache than it's worth.

The only real way to go is those Apple continuous ink cartridges for the Inkjet with built-in auto-resetting —but even those aren't free.

Besides, it seems like a waste to use that printer if you're only ever hitting it with black ink.
