Has anyone actually sat through this movie?

Here’s my quick take on the experience: GOD HELP US!

I really had high hopes for this one, since Hulk is such a wild, badass mofo from the comics 😉 😁

The pacing is so incredibly sluggish that I felt like I was aging in real-time while watching... just painful.🙄

It's just endless darkness and heavy-handed dialogue, plus all that garbage about his father—his whole presence is just grating.

And right when you're about to feel physically ill from the boredom (you know, that feeling of getting old), a tiny flash of action hits and you finally see a glimmer of hope.
The catch is that it lasts maybe seven or eight minutes before we're dragged back into the deep philosophy, ending with a "showdown" between father and son that is so soul-crushing you'll find yourself praying to God to just turn off the TV because the sheer stupidity is paralyzing.

In short... honestly, I just feel bad for anyone with an IQ above 15 who wastes money at the theater.

I'm hoping for a sequel, assuming they ditch the tedious character studies and the whole mess involving his father.

It's proof that even the Tree of Life can turn something potentially good and fun into something truly terrible.

I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up completely impotent from the sheer misery of it all... 😁 👎

Just like every other massive hype train blockbuster hitting theaters—Hulk is honestly a total bust.
As someone who actually reads the comics, I’m feeling pretty let down here.👎

I don't see anyone else bringing this up, so I figured I’d jump in and start the conversation myself.

So, I finally sat down to watch it, and man—I was honestly floored by how good it actually was. It wasn't just about the cinematography, though that was incredible; it’s probably the most faithful way we've ever seen a comic book translated to the big screen. But what really got me—and this is what I didn't expect—was that the movie works as a legit *drama*. Honestly, you could have stripped out all the Hulk action scenes and you'd still have a really solid, heavy-hitting drama on your hands.

And the action? It’s handled so tastefully—you know, none of that mindless, over-the-top stuff where every single car just turns into a fireball for no reason.

It was such a genuinely pleasant surprise, truly.

Honestly, you could skip the first hour of this movie without missing much at all; the whole setup can basically be boiled down to two sentences...

The rest of the film picks up a little bit, but it doesn't really fix the vibe, and ultimately, you're left feeling like the movie is just plain bad...

That said, if you're a die-hard comic book nerd, you'll probably get a kick out of it...

Personally, I wasn't feeling it, even though there were a few decent scenes scattered in there...

As someone who lives for the comics (you know, all those Gamma-charged muscles and chaos...), I can’t say I’m truly disappointed. Maybe it’s because I went in expecting an absolute train wreck, and instead, the movie just... wasn't great.
From a technical standpoint—the cinematography and how they translated the comic book panel layouts to the screen—it actually holds up pretty well. Plus, Nick Nolte does a fantastic job playing the part of a total loose cannon.😁

Look, I went into this expecting total garbage, so I have to admit—I’m actually pleasantly surprised. It blows Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the X-Men out of the water. This feels like an actual movie, not some cheap, campy cartoon like the others.

I haven't even touched the comic or seen the movie yet, and I’m already let down.😁

Spider-Man - fine, I guess.
X-Men 2 - alright enough.
Daredevil - 👎 honestly, the guy reminds me of a total fraud.😁 (like, he's basically just sensing things through sound and whatever...)

X-Men 1,2—absolute legends, just like the comics themselves... aren't they?

I just can't get behind the casting for Spider-Man! Honestly—I can't even picture Tobey Maguire as our web-slinging hero, let alone Kirsten Dunst as his girlfriend. If you strip away the awesome action sequences, the whole movie just feels like some cheesy teen romance, doesn't it?

Daredevil is solid—not exactly a masterpiece, but definitely good. I actually love that the guy doesn't have superhuman strength like everyone else or some invincible skin—it feels much more realistic, as much as a superhero movie can be, right?

I expected a bit more from Hulk—but hey, I guess it’s alright. It feels about the same level as Daredevil, right?

The movie isn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to catch it in a theater. It’s just not quite "big screen" quality for me.🙂

Total waste of time..
Who killed the grandma? Identity crisis? Ugh, SO BORING!!! If I actually wanted to sit through something like Crime and Punishment, I’d just head to the local library—where an annual membership costs way less than what I just paid to endure this two-and-a-half-hour slog in a theater. Honestly, during those two and a half hours, I think I turned green from pure boredom more times than Bruce Banner did.
Don't get me wrong, the cinematography is decent enough, and they nailed that comic book aesthetic, but let's be real: Marvel didn't make him famous because of some tragic flashbacks or these endless moral quandaries. He’s famous because he’s massive, he’s green, and he smashes everything in his path—period. That’s what the movie should have focused on. It was handled perfectly in the video games—you just grab a car and bash thugs over the head with it, no need for all the father issues, mother issues, and childhood trauma. They shouldn't have tried to get "deep" here. A mental reminder: Ang Lee is just plain tedious.
I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Just constant darkness and endless, drawn-out dialogue. Then there's all that nonsense from his father—his very presence alone is enough to get under your skin.

Heh. 😁

That’s actually why I liked it...
That's exactly what was missing from Spider-Man.
Though, I'll admit... they might have gone a bit overboard with Marvel...
At times, I genuinely felt like the director thought he was filming some prestige Oscar contender..

Spider-Man felt hollow. No real human emotion... just felt like I was staring at a comic book on a conveyor belt..
Honestly, even the comics probably have more soul than that...

Maybe the perfect superhero flick would be a mix of these two styles..

All in all, Marvel is an okay movie..

Honestly, what I really dig about this flick is that it isn't just mindless, non-stop action for the sake of it, unlike how things went down with The Matrix Reloaded and its sequel

I must admit, I had much higher expectations for Bruce Banner. When I finally sat down to watch it in the theater, I felt quite foolish for even buying a ticket; I ended up walking out halfway through the screening. I suppose I could have just treated myself to a nice craft beer instead, which certainly would have been a more satisfying use of my money.
As for Daredevil, it was frankly terrible—perhaps the director was so preoccupied with himself that he lost all sense of direction, leaving the entire production feeling aimless and blind.
Out of that entire selection, the only standout was definitely X-Men 2; I believe that is the only instance where they truly got everything right.

It seems to me that quality filmmaking is becoming a rarity these days, perhaps because there is such an overwhelming tendency to rely on impossible, fantastical premises.

Uh-oh! I have to come clean right off the bat—I’m just not a huge fan of Marvel comics in general, so I realize my objectivity might be a bit compromised here! And don't even get me started on poor Ang Lee. While some people are busy putting this film on a pedestal, I simply can't bring myself to agree with the hype. Sure, the director tried to break away from the usual tropes with some clever little touches, but honestly? It just wasn't enough to save the experience. He did a decent job capturing the characters' personalities, but what's the point if the whole thing feels so utterly tedious? It’s almost obvious they couldn't find an actor standing five meters tall with muscles built like the Rocky Mountains, so they went the CGI route instead—and frankly, seeing that digital creation on screen just left me cracking up. 😁What a mess!

And here I was thinking they were just bats...😁

Bottom line? The movie sucks... way too many doctors, not enough Marvel, and just feels super predictable...

Ang Lee actually pulled off something that seemed impossible. He took an imaginary comic book hero and turned it into a grounded, realistic movie. Someone above mentioned that he might have leaned too hard into trying to make an Oscar contender. Honestly, I’m with them. You can tell this guy was aiming for prestige, trying everything in his power to steer clear of those tired action clichés, explosions, and nonsense. And frankly, I respect it. I am beyond sick of mindless superhero movies. Just look at the garbage they produced with 🙂
featuring Scooby-Doo and Garfield.

Daredevil is... 👎 man, this guy just reminds me of some total creep 😁 (like, he uses his senses to track stuff by sound and whatever... lol)

Bruce Banner is such a jerk...
Spider-Man is easily one of my favorite comic heroes, but that movie... 😠 what a disaster. Just some dumb love story with actors that drive me crazy, and then when he grabs onto the American flag at the end? Ugh, gross. 👎 🙂

Honestly, I should probably start a whole new thread just about how often the American flag shows up in movies... I swear it happens like 99% of the time!

Well...
I finally sat down and watched it on Blu-ray.
Honestly, this movie is ten levels above Spider-Man and twenty levels above Daredevil.
