I need some help!

Hey everyone. First off, does anyone have a decent motherboard they'd recommend for under 400 bucks? $167 I wouldn't mind something used if it actually makes sense financially.
I just inherited this old clunker of a PC—the parts inside are ancient and pretty weak. My plan is to strip it down and build something halfway respectable out of it. I mainly want to play stuff like League, the older Call of Duty titles, Rome: Total War, and other low-spec games; nothing crazy or high-end. So, if you could point me toward some affordable components (motherboard, CPU, and GPU) that can actually handle those games without breaking the bank, that would be huge. Again, used gear is totally fine. Honestly, I don't know the first thing about hardware compatibility or how to put a rig together, so I'm asking for help to make sure everything actually fits and works together.

The issue is we don't even know which motherboard you actually need. Plus, that old rig probably has a junk power supply and an ancient hard drive in it. To start, just tell us what kind of port the hard drive uses—SATA or PATA (SATA uses those thin cables, while PATA is wide; maybe just Google the difference if you aren't sure).

Once that's settled, let us know the brand and specific model of the power supply. You could also just snap a photo so we can see what we're dealing with.

The catch is, if both the power supply and the hard drive are outdated, you're probably going to have to swap them both out.
