Ideas for long-running mega-threads

...if we want to make this forum a way more chill and organized place to hang out,
I’m thinking that for those massive threads that hit like ... pssss ~50+ pages (or whenever you feel they get too bloated)
every N pages we should have a little "TL;DR" summary—just a few key takeaways and maybe some killer quotes from those last N pages.

Yeah, I totally get that being a mod is a massive grind... but honestly, if you're stepping up to moderate, I feel like you should really dive into the threads and actually know the content on the subforum inside and out.

Or even better, what if regular users stepped up and wrote a quick wrap-up every N pages (like every 10) and pinned it somewhere visible?

Or just put a "table of contents" or a roadmap of the discussion in the very first post.

It's just such a pain to slog through hundreds of pages of fluff 😁 and doing this would stop random newbies from jumping in blindly and asking things that were already answered.

Now, obviously, I realize this wouldn't work for every single thread mentioned above
(like the super fast chatty ones that blow past 10,000 posts in no time, or specific help threads, etc.)

Speaking as a moderator on a major news site, I can tell you right now that users there couldn't agree on the color of the sky, let alone produce an objective summary of a thread.

That’s just one of thirty-eight reasons that immediately came to mind regarding why your proposal is simply impossible to implement.
