Idiocracy (2006)

Man... I was off the grid for two weeks without my phone or TV... then I hopped back online and watched this movie. Honestly? This isn't some distant sci-fi future—this is happening right now. Just turn on the news and look at the state of the world... we are slowly losing our minds. It’s like that old metaphor about the frog in boiling water... it happens so gradually you don't even realize you're being cooked until it's too late.

Just unplug from the internet and the TV. 👍

Such a smart, underrated movie... I really think it hits the nail on the head—some of those themes are already playing out in real life right now.

It’s a great movie, one I find myself bringing up quite often when people debate what kind of sci-fi script our future might actually follow. Everyone tends to jump straight to Terminator and things of that nature, but to me, this film feels much closer to the reality we've already started stepping into. I watched it about ten years ago right when it hit theaters, and looking back, a lot of what happens has already begun to drift toward exactly what the film predicted.

I'm on board with everything said above. That was my exact thought when I watched him recently.

A bit off-topic, but
I haven't even touched a TV in maybe two or three years. I just stream whatever I want online. Honestly, I can really feel the difference between myself—and other people living like this—and those folks who can't function without a television being a constant part of their lives.

In that movie, they’re just laughing at some crude joke about anatomy.
It’s funny, really. We sit here scrolling through forums, obsessing over Big Brother-style reality shows, or watching superhero movies that pop up like weeds after a rainstorm. Then there are those mindless series featuring fantasy politicians—as if we don't have enough actual idiots running things in Washington already. It goes on and on...
Hahaha! Seriously!

Though, I suppose that Black president in the film might seem like a real statesman to someone living in a tiny rural town out in the middle of nowhere... ☕

But seriously though, people are actually treating that movie like it’s some kind of documentary. Between the dark presidency, drinking nothing but Coca-Cola, those brain-dead reality shows, and a public so mindless they basically just chase a paycheck... everything they predicted came true.

Overrated garbage. It’s a half-baked attempt at parody featuring cast members who couldn't deliver if their lives depended on it, like Wilson's brother or Dax Shepard.

I'm definitely gonna watch this today. I keep saying I will, but finding the actual time to sit down for a movie is always the problem.

I absolutely love this movie. Seriously, everyone needs to check it out. It’s basically a perfect snapshot of how mindless modern America has become and what their media landscape actually looks like. Honestly, looking at how things are going lately, it's almost a little too easy to believe this could be our future.

Alright, funny guy, though honestly, they should've just turned this into a sitcom instead of making it one single movie.
