Ignore the list

I'm a little fuzzy on how the whole ignore list thing actually works here. Like, if I put someone on my block list, can they still see my username and all my posts, or am I just effectively invisible to them while I stop seeing their nonsense?
And more importantly, can they still slide into my DMs?

If you decide to toss someone onto your Ignore list, their posts just vanish from your view—simple as that. Just keep in mind, your own posts are still out there for everyone else to see, unless someone decides to hit the button on you.
As for Microsoft, I’m really not entirely sure. 🤔

What happens if someone quotes someone on my ignore list? Will I still see their posts?

Edit: Oh, okay. So I can see them when they quote me. I don't really get the point of ignore lists then... kind of silly.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same frustration here... honestly, it’s such a pain. It feels pretty pointless at this stage. Does anyone know what the admins are thinking? Like, is there any word from management on whether we can just upgrade the whole forum to a newer version where this bug is actually patched out?

If I’m ignoring someone, it means I have zero interest in sharing anything with them. It feels pretty pointless when they can still see everything I post... just a little frustrating.

If you’re trying to withhold information from specific individuals while posting on a public forum like Reddit, you’re essentially shouting into a megaphone.
In reality, everything posted here is visible to the public unless you're logged in and using private messaging, but even then, ignoring a comment won't hide your words; anyone browsing the thread can read exactly what you wrote, just like everyone else. This applies to all public threads, barring any truly private channels.😬
The bottom line is that you should probably think twice about what you put out there, maybe even five times if necessary.😉

Upgrading would require shelling out more cash, and even then, that specific bug wouldn't be patched. Honestly, vB 3 is arguably the best version we've had.
The problem is that vB 3 is just so outdated now that they don't support plugins anymore, and since they've pulled the existing ones, we're basically stuck...

Also, look at it this way: if you ignore someone in real life while you're talking to them, they can still hear you. It's the same here. You might be ignoring someone, but they aren't ignoring you.

The problem is vB 3 is such a dinosaur now that plugin support is basically dead—most of them have been pulled entirely, so you can't even use them anymore...

Also, just a heads-up: if you're ignoring someone in real life while still talking to them, they can still hear you. It’s the same thing here. You might be ignoring them, but they aren't ignoring you; they're still reading everything you write.

That’s not even a bug, though. This whole "ignore" logic has been baked into almost every forum since the early days. The only real difference is that some modern modules allow for a total blackout—meaning you won't even see their posts if they try to quote you.
