Image glitches/corruption issues

Hey everyone, I just finished fixing up my PC, and now I'm already staring at a new error. 😵

When I installed Windows 7, I’m not sure if I did it correctly; I basically just ran the setup and finished it like any normal person would. Everything was working fine initially, but after turning it back on after some time, the display went completely haywire. The colors are all messed up—green, yellow, you name it—nothing looks right. It’s like the screen got smashed by someone from Scary maziti and everything just scattered everywhere. To make matters worse, on Windows XP, everything looks perfectly normal (I have the option at boot-up to choose between Windows 7 or XP), but the mouse and the internet connection aren't working there. The graphics card isn't dead and the monitor is fine, so the issue has to be something within Windows, right? 🙂 What should my next move be? Should I try reinstalling Windows 7 or just go for a fresh install? I'll give that a shot, but please leave a comment here just in case I can't get it sorted.

Both issues boil down to specific drivers. For Windows 7, it’s likely the graphics driver. Check exactly which card you're running, hit up the manufacturer's site, and grab the right driver for your version of Windows (Windows 7 x86 or x64). Then just manually install it through Device Manager... or run the setup exe if they provide one.

As for Windows XP, you might be looking at a bigger headache. XP is ancient history now. Nobody's writing drivers for it anymore, and honestly, they might not even exist. You need the driver for whatever network adapter or card you've got installed. Finding that can be a real pain...
