Internet Audio Issues

I really need some help here. I've completely lost all my audio on YouTube and every other social media site. Weirdly enough, my VLC player is working just fine... Any idea what could be causing this? 🤔Thanks!

I think I messed up big time—I downloaded some drivers and now my sound isn't working even on VLC... Oh man 😢

Is there any way to fix this??!

Open up your browser first, then head down to the bottom right corner, right-click that speaker icon, and select Open volume mixer. Just double-check that everything is actually turned up.
You could also open sound settings and check what’s listed as your default output device. Give switching them a shot; you might be accidentally sending audio to the wrong hardware.

Thanks for reaching out. I honestly tried everything under the sun, but I just couldn't get the audio back... I ended up having to call a repairman 🙂

Look, if you can't even get audio working in VLC anymore, then you haven't just messed things up for everyone online—you've officially broken your own computer.

It isn't unsolvable. But if you want anyone here who actually knows their way around a PC to offer real solutions, you need to provide specifics. State which OS you're running—Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, whatever—and list your GPU and sound card. Or whatever the technical terminology is these days. Just get the details out there.

I'm right there with you, $67—it’s a bit of a mess. My IT guy even had to come over and fix my startup settings because I was basically turning my computer off every leap year just to deal with some boot errors...

And honestly, since I dug my own hole and made such a huge mess of things, I guess I deserve to pay the price for my own stupidity 🙂 🙂

Lucky you, having someone to call. Did the tech actually come out to your place? Or did you have to drop the unit off at his shop? Maybe he even fixed it remotely.

I really should have called sooner. I don't know why I thought it was going to be such a massive, expensive ordeal🙂 Maybe someone just spooked me by saying it might be a GPU issue...

I didn't have anyone, honestly—just stumbled upon him by chance. I was looking for someone nearby, and it turns out he lives just three minutes away in my own neighborhood... He actually drove over to my place... on a motorcycle😬 He seems like a good guy, which is the most important thing...
