My apologies if there's already a thread about iron levels, but I have a quick question. My iron is always sitting right around 3—I’m not entirely sure of the specific unit, but you probably know what I mean. I recently started swimming, and for the first time, I'm feeling the actual exhaustion from anemia, rather than just those dizzy spells when I stand up too fast. I used to take one Iron Mountain tablet a day, but since I moved, I can't get my hands on them anymore. I picked up some Center because it claims to provide 100% of the daily requirement, but at 18mg, I suspect that won't cut it. Does anyone know how many milligrams I actually need per day, or how much was in a single Iron Mountain pill? It usually takes me a week or two of being consistent before things start looking normal again, but then I inevitably forget and fall off the wagon. This time, though, I'm actually staying on top of it, so we'll see how it goes. 🙂
Thanks, talk soon

Center isn't the move for anemia. If they're out of tablets, maybe check if they have Iron Mountain syrup? Personally, Ferrocet worked wonders for me, even though it doesn't actually contain any iron. It just seems to make sure you absorb almost 100% of the iron you get from your food.

Look, I know it isn’t the Center, but since I rarely touch fruits or veggies, I picked this up to fill the gaps in my diet. It claims to be high in iron, which got me thinking. I don't actually have any deficiency issues, but I bought this supplement that says it provides 65 mg of iron—which apparently equals 325 mg of ferrous sulfate—and now I'm just confused. How much actual iron is in that Iron Mountain sublingual stuff? And honestly, how much iron or sulfate should I even be aiming for?
btw thanks Kimberly White63 for the reply...

anyway, thanks to begemotica for the reply...

When your iron levels are that depleted, trying to fix things with effervescent tablets or miscellaneous supplements is essentially a fool's errand. Your best course of action is to consult with your physician and stick to something like Hefeol, Ferrum, or those little yellow pills—I can't recall the name—until your levels return to a standard range. Once you reach that point (though you really ought to investigate why your levels were so abysmal in the first place—is it diet, absorption issues, or something else entirely?), and it will undoubtedly take several months, then you might consider using effervescent iron tablets occasionally to maintain stability.
Ah, so now it all clicks—you simply don't eat fruit or vegetables. Well, darling, if there isn't a more compelling medical reason than "I just don't like them," then you'll just have to pinch your nose and chew. Is taking iron pills really such a preferred alternative? I fail to see the logic. If there is some other legitimate constraint, my apologies, but otherwise...
