Can someone please walk me through what might be messing with my cycle? I’m 100% sure I’m not pregnant, but my period is already 10 days late, and I definitely felt like I missed ovulation this month. I finally managed to snag an appointment with my OBGYN in two weeks—couldn't get in any sooner—but I really want to wrap my head around what could be going on. Just trying to prep myself in case there’s some underlying health issue at play.

The Balance Sheet states:
I experienced a lack of ovulation as one of my symptoms.

What exactly does that entail?

😕

Look, it’s probably nothing major, but seriously—just go see a doctor.👍

😕

It looks like some brownish discharge... I've heard that's pretty common for women on the pill. I haven't even started taking mine yet.

It’s not the end of the world, but seriously, just go see a doctor.👍

I really hope it isn't that. Out of everything listed there, I only have the two symptoms I already mentioned. Everything else seems totally fine.

I have black hair. I hear that’s common among certain demographics. I am not part of that demographic.

I mean, LOL 😁

If you're positive you aren't pregnant, it could be PCOS, a cyst, delayed ovulation pushing back your period, or just a hormonal imbalance.

Either way, it's usually more concerning if your period is late and you *aren't* pregnant than if it's actually due to pregnancy. 😉

Go see a doctor.

Seriously? Guess I'm the odd one out then. 😎

Maybe it’s just stress or some recent lifestyle shift throwing your hormones out of whack... nothing new, nothing weird 🙂

So, does anyone actually know how you treat this? And do you need to get bloodwork done before they even think about prescribing pills?

There’s no need for anything.

Just walk into a pharmacy and ask for some pills to fix your warped pitch.🙄

Wait, what? How exactly are you planning to "treat" irregular periods😁 , like an unbalanced cycle?!
Hold up, you're seriously looking to pop pills (and honestly, don't get me started on the whole "pill vs. tablet" debate, go check out 😛 that other thread
)??????

You want to take meds... and get blood tests... oh boy... someone please break it down for her, because I was completely lost 😕

I don't know, maybe some tests are needed to see what's up with the hormones.
whatever, doesn't matter. I'll find out what's actually going on in two weeks.

but whatever, it doesn't really matter right now. I'll find out what the deal is in two weeks.

Wait, what does that have to do with birth control? I think you mentioned pills earlier?

Yeah, honestly, she probably should get some bloodwork done to figure out the hormone situation.

So, my cycle is completely all over the place, and honestly, I have no clue why. Even my doctor couldn't give me a straight answer, which is just great.
I was on birth control for about four years, and once I finally quit, things got weird. I had two pretty light periods over maybe a four-month stretch, then nothing at all for seven months. So, I started taking medication—I've been on Dabras for about five months now—just to get my period back. It works, I guess, but even though I'm bleeding again, it seems to show up a little later every time and feels a bit lighter than the one before, which is starting to worry me a little. Now, it’s supposed to start coming back on its own naturally, so we'll just have to wait and see in about twenty days or so.
For what it's worth, I already had blood work done to check my hormone levels, and everything came back totally fine.
My gynecologist told me that this kind of thing can happen after you stop using hormonal contraceptives, suggesting that things usually settle down within a few months. Well, clearly, that wasn't the case for me.
It's not like I've suddenly dropped a bunch of weight or anything, and generally speaking, I feel perfectly fine. In fact, I actually felt okay during those months when I wasn't getting my period. Aside from having some sort of PMS symptoms during those first couple of months—where I was just incredibly irritable and on edge for a few days—nothing else really happened.

I want my period back so bad!!!! 🙂 🙂
(Ugh, I never thought I'd actually find myself saying that!)

Honestly, that sounds totally normal to me... I used to have a cycle that fluctuated anywhere from 20 to 45 days for years. Little things like a random cold or just general stuff happening in your body that you don't even notice—especially stress—can really mess with it. For me, it always seemed to run late whenever I was stressing out about it waiting to happen. So, maybe just try to relax and not jump straight to thinking the worst about your health. Once you get checked out, they'll probably just have Dabras or some other hormone therapy to get everything back on track. Hang in there!

Oh, sure, because why bother with facts when you can just listen to the idiots claiming women even have predictable menstrual cycles? Apparently, everything just happens whenever it feels like it, right?

🙄

If you're going to gamble with your own body and health, at least don't go around telling everyone else to do the same.
