I was watching some highlights last night and it got me thinking about how much the landscape of talent has changed. It feels like every single season, there’s this new kid who comes out of nowhere, dominates for a few months, and suddenly they’re being discussed as the biggest, most expensive thing on the planet.
Back when I first started following the sport, you actually had to see players grind in the lower leagues or develop over several years before the massive clubs even blinked an eye. Now, it feels like the scouting is so hyper-accelerated that a player can go from being a total mystery to a household name overnight.
Don't get me wrong, it's incredible to see talent discovered so quickly, but I do wonder if we're losing that sense of "earning it" through longevity. Does the massive price tag actually reflect skill, or is it just a race to see who can grab the next lightning bolt before anyone else does?
Do you think these massive, sudden transfers are actually worth the hype, or are we just overpaying for momentum?
