Is blockchain actually going to replace traditional banking?

I keep seeing all this hype about blockchain making banks and governments obsolete. It sounds great to not have to hand over my personal info every time I buy something online, but I wonder if it's actually practical for everyday use. Do you guys think we'll actually see a world where we don't need banks anymore?
