I was reading some recent sports analysis today and it really got me thinking about how much weight we give to these "expert" rankings. It feels like every week there's a new group of specialists or veterans coming out of nowhere to claim that a specific person is one of the absolute best at what they do.
Don't get me wrong, I respect the grind, but sometimes it feels like these opinions are just based on who is being talked about in the media cycle at that moment. I’ve seen so many "top tier" talents get hailed as geniuses one season, only to be treated like total failures the next when a few things don't go their way. It makes me wonder if these rankings are based on actual data or just a collective vibe among a specific circle of peers.
Does anyone else feel like these high-level accolades are becoming more about narrative than actual performance? Or am I just being too cynical about how much these "insider" opinions actually matter?
