I’ve been watching a lot of the recent talk around major sports franchises lately, and it’s starting to get on my nerves. You always hear the higher-ups or the owners giving these polished, sanitized statements about how everything is "exactly where it needs to be" or how the "foundation is solid," even when the actual results on the field are a total disaster.
It feels like a massive disconnect. From the outside looking in, it looks like chaos or a complete rebuild, but the people in charge act like they’re sitting on a gold mine of long-term planning. To me, it sounds less like actual confidence and more like damage control to keep the fans from revolting. If you're spending massive amounts of money but the core group of talent is walking out the door for nothing, how can you honestly claim things are "healthy"?
I don't know, maybe I'm being too cynical. I just find it hard to swallow the corporate jargon when the trophy cabinet is looking a bit dusty.
Do you guys think these "we are in a good place" statements are ever genuine, or is it always just PR to stop the panic?
