I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day who’s been working steady for fifteen years, and he's basically living on a razor's edge. Every time a minor unexpected expense pops up—a car repair or a sudden vet bill—he’s essentially one step away from a total meltdown. It feels like the math just doesn't add up for a huge chunk of people anymore, regardless of how hard they grind.

It's getting harder to ignore the sense that the traditional way of building a life—get a job, take out some loans, buy some things, and slowly pay them off—is becoming a high-stakes gamble. We’re told that debt is just a tool to build a future, but for a lot of folks, it feels more like a weight dragging them under before they even get started.

Are we seeing a fundamental shift in how people can actually survive financially, or is this just a temporary rough patch that everyone needs to weather?
