Is the tap water in Washington, D.C. safe to drink?

Not sure where else to go with this. Every single time I fill up a pitcher at my place, there’s some kind of gunk sitting at the bottom. No clue what it is. A few years back, I had my water tested because it tasted funky, but I don't remember seeing any sediment then and they didn't find anything. Does anyone know a reliable lab where I can get a deep dive on my water quality? I’m not exactly looking to spend the rest of my life sipping moonshine just to stay hydrated.😁
