Issues at Times Square

Hey everyone... I’m running into a bit of a headache with the Google Play Store. Basically, whenever I try to pull up the app, I just get hit with this error message (see the screenshot). My internet connection is perfectly fine—everything else is loading without a hitch—but the store is just being stubborn. To make matters worse, I couldn't even get YouTube to load; it was throwing the exact same error until I finally rolled it back to the factory version. Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this glitch or how I can actually fix it?

My phone is rooted, but I'm totally lost on this last part—where am I supposed to go?

It's all laid out right there. You could also just do it this way, using your PC.

Fire up your favorite file manager and navigate straight to the root directory. Locate the hosts file sitting at system/etc and open it using the Edit option.

That’s a straightforward translation. I don't see what part you're struggling with. 🤷

That’s basically a straight translation of the steps. I honestly don't see where the confusion lies here. 🤷

That’s just your home directory—the first thing you see whenever you fire up the file manager.

Well, I'm looking everywhere and I still don't see any "hosts" file.

That file is located at system/etc. Do you actually have those two directories?

Looking at the Wi-Fi signal in that photo, you’ve got a really weak connection there. It looks like you might be picking up a public hotspot. I'd suggest moving a bit closer to the router or the source to see if you can get at least two or three bars of signal.
