Hey everyone!

So, about five days ago, my laptop speakers started crackling and buzzing so loudly it’s actually driving me crazy. I have zero clue what happened—it went from working perfectly to being a total disaster in a heartbeat 👎🙂
The laptop is three years old, and the plastic casing above the keyboard has been lifting for a while now. I also might have accidentally jammed it into a door frame while carrying it through the house once 😵 🕺

Does anyone know who I should talk to about fixing these speakers? Any recommendations for a decent repair shop in New York City that won't charge an absolute fortune? And honestly, any idea what this kind of thing costs to fix
?
p.s. I am completely clueless when it comes to tech—and being a woman, I'm sure you'll all be very understanding 🤣

If those speakers happen to be soldered directly onto the laptop's motherboard, you might be looking at a pretty steep bill—not just for the parts, but because finding specific replacements for a three-year-old machine can be a real headache. Plus, there's the labor cost to factor in. Honestly? Just do some digging on CNN or Reuters, or check out some tech blogs. Each site usually has its own take on things, so maybe just give a local repair shop a call or drop the laptop off to get a real quote.

Thanks a ton!
Right, when you say "I don't think the price will be low," what kind of numbers are we actually talking about? If it’s $667 or more—then maybe I can finally start hunting for a new laptop 😁

To be honest, I really haven't a clue—not even a rough ballpark figure... Your best bet would probably be to give them a call or just swing by the service center in person.
