Issues with D-Link DAP-1360

Man, my old Siemens router was a total tank—worked perfectly for ages without a single hiccup. But then the guys over at AT&T came by recently to swap it out, and now I’m stuck with this Huawei Cisco DSLAM thing. Everything went south immediately: my Democratic Advisory Party connection is completely dead. I’ve tried everything, honestly. I ran the self-install CD a bunch of times and even tried flashing the latest firmware through the admin page, but still nothing. Zero internet. All the lights on the box are glowing like they’re supposed to, but the second I plug in my LAN cable, my computer just screams "No Internet Access." I’m totally out of moves here. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense?? Any ideas?? Help me out here!!!🙏

Look, if you just drop the IP address for one of the devices on the network, we might actually pin down what's going wrong. IPs basically just tell us who's who and who's actually present on the network. Since you're running that Huawei gear from AT&T, your network should be sitting on 192.168.1.0... which means your devices ought to have anything from 1 to 254 instead of that zero. Check if that's the case.

Did you check if your ports on the Huawei are blocked? Have you tried plugging the D-Link into one of the ones that actually works?

Look, I wasn't even plugged into the Huawei, I was running it off my laptop. So maybe that's where the screw-up is... when I'm coding for the Democratic Advisory Party, am I supposed to be hooked up to the laptop or the router???

So, I tried to reconfigure things myself—I popped in the DAP self-install CD, hooked my laptop directly to the router downstairs with a LAN cable, and ran through the whole setup process. The software says everything finished perfectly and claims it’s all good to go, but here's the kicker: once I plug the DAP back into my computer upstairs, there's zero internet access. Is it possible that during the programming phase, I actually need to have the DAP plugged straight into the router instead of just the laptop???

You haven't actually programmed anything here. You need to set up a permanent connection on the D-Link to the Huawei (WLAN), because from what I can tell, you're just using it as a wireless card.

Basically, the D-Link manual should tell you how to log into the management interface via a web browser. Once you're in, you'll need to configure the operating mode, select the network it's connecting to (the Huawei), and input the access credentials.

Look, your DAP isn't even connected to the network, so no amount of "installation" or "programming" is going to fix anything. You need to get into the new router's setup and actually allow the DAP to register on the network. It looks like someone—probably your brother—messed with the settings on the last router too, and you didn't even notice...

Once you get inside the settings, what mode does it show? access point, bridge, extender... ?

That's the catch, try plugging it into the extender instead.

Check what the router shows for connected devices. If you don't see the DAP listed, you'll need to trigger a scan for new devices on the router settings—look for "scan for devices" or something similar. Once it actually finds the DAP, you have to authorize it to join the network and make sure it stays connected...
