Issues with external hard drive

So, my external hard drive is showing up under devices over in the Devices and Printers section, but it’s completely MIA when I pull up My Computer. This whole mess started right after I upgraded my rig to Windows 7 Professional—I was running a trial version before this.
Does anyone know how to get this thing mounted or moved so it actually shows up where it belongs?

Anyone happen to know anything about this?

It’s like calling an auto mechanic and saying, "My car won't start. Look, I don't know the first thing about engines, so if you actually know what's wrong, just explain it simply so I can fix it myself!"

Right-click the Start button and select Disk Management. I’m not entirely sure how that's labeled in the US version of the OS. You probably just need to manually assign a drive letter...

Alright, try going into properties and then hit update driver...
Man, seeing Windows running on a US build like this is just painful

Just wipe the drive and call it a day, it'll save you a massive headache.

Maybe try converting it to a dynamic disk?

Seriously, just delete the partition... it’s basically just a formatting issue at this point, right? Honestly, why not just click on that little square all the way over on the left where it shows the drive name, go into properties, and then hit that "update driver" tab? Man, I can't even remember what the exact wording is on the US version of the OS...

but honestly, he doesn't even realize what the actual issue with the database is, I'm pretty sure it's just a missing driver

Does your drive have some kind of physical button on it? I know for certain that some of them actually have a dedicated key, and you have to physically press it before the drive even shows up in your file explorer!

If that doesn't do the trick, then I honestly have no clue what else to tell you, man! I’m totally stumped here, so why don't you try Googling the specific driver for that disk and see if anything pops up? 🕺

Just right-click it and select "change drive letter and paths"...

It’s driving me nuts—Lightshot just won't let me take a screenshot... I have plenty of options available, but all it'll do is keep popping up with 'Eject Drive' and 'Help'
