So, I’ve run into a bit of a snag with my email client.

Everything seems to be configured correctly—the incoming and outgoing servers are all set, and I can receive messages without any issues—but I just can't seem to send anything. Every time I attempt to send an email, I get this error:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:
554 5.7.1 <unknown[109.227.31.238]>: Client host rejected: Access denied.
Please check the message recipient "gordana.biskupic@verizon.net" and try again.

I'm honestly at a loss here, so I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks!
P.S. This specific email was sent to my wife—and interestingly enough, I have no trouble sending mail to her address when I use Opera Mail.

P.S. To clarify, I have the exact same account set up in Opera Mail, and there, everything works perfectly—both sending and receiving.
I really can't figure out why Phoenix would be acting up like this.

P.P.S. I've been using Phoenix for years now, so I've grown quite fond of it and would really prefer to get it working again.

What's your outgoing SMTP server? And who's your ISP...

ironcyclist58, I'm connecting through my Xfinity setup (Goldman Sachs).

Here’s a quick look at how I have everything configured in Phoenix.

Security protocol: TLS
and you’ll need to plug in the exact same login info you used for the IMAP server.

Man, please just hide where your full name is visible—(and hey, if you still can, maybe scrub my wife's name from that first post too 😉 ))

Under the "Security protocol" section, I'm seeing two different options for my incoming server:

STARTTLS

SSL/TLS

—and I have the same choice for the outgoing server, too.

Which one should I actually go with?

ssl/tls (I think? I never really know, so I just guess and then change it once I mess up 😬 thank god there are only two options to choose from 😁 )

Neither of those options seems to be doing the trick... 🤦

And honestly, I’m just worried you'll end up having to drag someone else in to help... my brain is totally fried after everything I've thrown at this one 🙂

Is there anyone out there who might be able to lend me a hand?

Try switching things up by using the SSL/TLS port 465, or just go old school and try port 25 without any security protocols at all.

Just make sure you're plugging in the exact SMTP username and password provided by Xfinity.
