Hi everyone...
I’m running into a bit of a struggle lately. For about a week now, my eyes have been itching terribly. It isn't quite as bad when I'm indoors, but the moment I step outside, the irritation becomes almost unbearable. If there's even a slight breeze, it bothers me so much that I find myself squinting just to cope, and it honestly feels like my ocular mucosa is completely dried out...
Has anyone else dealt with anything similar, and if you have, how did you manage it?
Every day after work, I've been applying a little chamomile compress, which seems to soothe the itchiness for a short while, but then the sensation just returns... I spend my entire workday staring at a computer screen, so I wonder if that might be contributing to the dryness, though I can't say for certain if it's something else entirely.
Any advice would be so appreciated... 🙂

Maybe you're just dealing with some seasonal allergy triggered by whatever is blooming right now? I don't know, that's my first thought... though, honestly, it could be a thousand other things entirely. If it keeps up, you should probably swing by a doctor's office, but you already knew that without me saying it 🙂

Thanks, I hadn't actually considered that; I was leaning more toward the idea that it might be some kind of inflammation! But since I am quite prone to allergies, that really could be the culprit...😢
Thank you once again!

It could definitely be allergies. I always deal with a nasty case of conjunctivitis every September because of ragweed. I just picked up some over-the-counter eye drops containing an antihistamine, Livinston... I'm just waiting for the season to hit so I can finally put them to the test.

Well, I went through something very similar this time last year, so I’m leaning heavily toward the idea that this is definitely an allergic reaction... But I'm curious, Casey Palmer5, what kind of symptoms are you actually experiencing? For me, it’s been a total disaster; my eyes itch constantly, and there's this persistent sensation of having something stuck in them, almost like I have sand under my eyelids... plus, they've been watering quite a bit. Is it feeling the same way for you, and do you think those drops might actually offer some relief?

It's definitely an allergy. Just take some drops; you'll feel better for sure.

For me, it’s a total nightmare—my eyes itch constantly, and it feels like there’s something stuck in them, like I have sand under my eyelids or something. Plus, they're watering like crazy! Is that what you're feeling too, and do those drops actually help at all?

Redness, swelling in the inner corner of my eye, swollen lids, itching that drives me absolutely insane, and waking up with crusty eyes every single morning.

I'm not sure if those drops even work, so I'll just hold off until I really need them (once the ragweed starts blooming)...

I honestly have no idea if these actually work. I’m holding off on trying them until they're absolutely necessary—basically when the ragweed starts hitting hard this season.

Ugh, tell me about it. A few years back, I went through something similar... except my eyes were constantly watering and filled with this thick, yellow discharge. Seriously, yuck!

It sounds exactly like what I've been going through lately! Every single morning, I have to use warm water just to be able to force my eyes open, and then during the day, the itching becomes an absolute nightmare... Have you found anything that helps so far, like specific eye drops or maybe some allergy pills???

Lately, Claritin hasn't been doing anything for me—it feels totally useless. I switched over to Letizen recently, and honestly, it seems to be working a little better...
I feel like I've tried just about everything out there on the market, but nothing really touches my allergies when the ragweed starts blooming.

As for eye drops, using the height of a drop gives me some relief, but it only lasts maybe half an hour. I didn't even know Livinston existed until recently, but I caught an ad for it in a Pfizer magazine you see in most pharmacies.

To be honest, I have tried almost everything currently available on the market, but nothing seems to touch the seasonal allergies when the ragweed starts blooming...

As for my eyes, using the height of a drop provides some comfort, though it only lasts maybe thirty minutes. I hadn't even realized those Livinston drops existed until I spotted an advertisement in a Pfizer magazine you'd typically find in local pharmacies...

Yes, the height of a drop works wonders, but I have heard rumors that using them too frequently might not be the healthiest option... Still, how am I supposed to endure this misery when my eyes feel as irritated as a newborn chick's? I dealt with these exact same issues last year, though I didn't press myself too hard because I mistakenly thought it was just some sort of inflammation, but now it feels identical, leading me to believe it is definitely an allergy to something floating in the air right now. Now that I finally understand what's happening, I am preparing to go to war against the pollen, the weeds, and all that other nonsense! I am going to pick up that Livinston and let you know if it actually works so you'll know what to do when your own symptoms hit... God willing, you won't have to deal with it at all, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!! 😘

Can eye pressure actually go up? If so, I probably shouldn't overdo it. Maybe give these a shot instead; they should be easier on you since they have an antihistamine in them.

One time, my doctor prescribed Dexamethasone-Neomycin...but once I read through the list of side effects, I didn't even bother opening the bottle 😁

Perhaps you might find some relief using Prokulin drops... I believe they function quite similarly to the height of a drop.

Casey Palmer5 said:Yeah, Visine can actually bump up your eye pressure, so you really shouldn't overdo it. Maybe give these a shot instead; they should be much gentler since they include an antihistamine.

I remember once a doctor prescribed me some Dexamethasone-Neomycin... but once I actually sat down and read through the list of side effects, I couldn't even bring myself to open the box... 😁

Thank you so much for the advice, Casey Palmer5, I'll definitely let you know how they work once I try them out...

Joshua Jones said:Maybe those Prokulinka drops would work for you too... I think they're pretty similar to the height of a drop formula.

I know, those drops are actually wonderful because they don't constrict your blood vessels; instead, they just act like gentle, natural tears to rinse out the eye since they're so neutral. They really are quite good, I have to admit, but I think I'll go ahead and pick up the ones Casey Palmer5 suggested since they're specifically formulated for allergies. The Prokulinka ones are great when your eyes are just feeling strained from staring at the computer all day... honestly...
Thanks so much for the advice!! 👋

I’ve been wearing soft contacts for years without a single issue. But for the last two weeks, my right eye has been acting up. There’s this redness and irritation right where my upper and lower eyelids meet. I’m also getting these stringy bits of mucus every so often, which occasionally blurs my vision when they get stuck on the lens. I’ve been rinsing it frequently with artificial tears, but I’m starting to think that isn't cutting it. My left eye feels perfectly fine.
I read somewhere that this could be a sign of viral conjunctivitis, but I can't say for sure. I don't have any other symptoms—no stinging, no redness in the eyeball itself, and no sneezing or runny nose, so it’s definitely not an allergy.
