Man, I only have fragments of this movie stuck in my head. I watched it ages ago and I know I absolutely loved it back then, but I can't for the life of me remember the title.

I'm pretty sure James Coburn was the lead.
He plays some kind of special agent, though I haven't got a clue what his actual job is.
But he's got these crazy gadgets, totally in the style of James Bond. He sleeps in this weird way on these sticks, and he's got an alarm clock that works by having something pop out of his wristwatch and tap his pulse. Apparently, he can actually slow his heart rate down, and that little device helps him trigger it. He uses that trick to make his enemies think he's already dead.

That's really all I've got... just those random bits. But I swear, when I was a kid, this movie was everything to me. 😁

Anyone actually know what I'm talking about?

So, you've got the secret agent James Bond movies. There are a handful of them out there. It’s basically a parody of a parody at this point, which honestly served as a massive inspiration for Austin Powers.

btw, the movie is called Our man Flint and there’s even a sequel In like Flint out there too.

Another absolute masterpiece from Jerry Goldsmith—man, he just knew how to pull off those cheeky scores!

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I'm gonna go hunt it down and see if it actually holds up for me now.

It's such an old flick, though. Honestly, since the first time I saw it, I haven't caught it on TV once. 😕

I recall that film myself. I actually ended up swiping a watch from my grandfather afterward, simply because it bore such a striking resemblance to that one belonging to Flintov. 😁

Man, we absolutely loved that movie when we were kids.

...it was only way later on that we realized the whole thing was actually, well, just a huge parody. 😬

I mean, I actually really like the sound of that idea... does anyone know where I can actually pick up these movies?

Is there any chance of finding them at a local video rental shop, or should I just start hunting around on some old DivX sites or something...?

I'm pretty sure both of them were released on VHS and/or DVD back in the day (just imagine dropping some cash into Austin Powers' account).

Seriously though, I honestly had no clue it was a spoof. 😁
The last time I watched it, I was just a kid, so I just took everything at face value. It actually took me ages to pin down who the lead actor even was because I couldn't place the face. Then I'm watching this one flick starring Coburn and it finally clicks—wait, HE was the guy from that other movie.
That's basically how I pieced my memory back together. 🙂

Actually, let me correct you there—the primary inspiration for Austin Powers was actually the film Casino Royale starring Peter Selerese...

As for Flint, yes, that was James Coburn... I’ve revisited a couple of those old parodies, like Our Man Flint and In Like Flint from '66 and '67.
The character actor Lee J. Cobb playing his boss was just superb; the director was the talented Daniel Mann... and Gila Golan was absolutely stunning...
Man, those sixties were something else...!

In the next movie, *in like Flint*, the girl from *Flintica* was played by Jean hala—she played Lisa... though back then, the top leading lady in Hollywood was actually Stella Stevens... She appeared in a few spy and agent parodies, but alongside Dean Martin, who was also filming spy comedies at the same time—running parallel to Coburn...

I remember watching—Martin’s secret agent was actually Matt Helm, and in the film Ambushers, he was hunting down some government flying saucer that had been kidnapped by someone else... there were quite a few comedies just like that.
