I’m wondering if you need a prescription to buy Beloderm cream from Johnson & Johnson here in the States.

Over in Denver, a prescription is mandatory, so I'm curious if anyone knows if it can be picked up over the counter in America.

Since Beloderm falls under the category of corticosteroids, you’re going to need a prescription to get your hands on it... If you're looking for more details, why not just ask one of the pharmacists over at www.coner.com

You can pick that up at any local CVS without a prescription.

So, look... technically, you shouldn't be able to get it without a prescription, but let's be real: there are plenty of pharmacies out there that just don't follow the rules. 😉

I mean, honestly, probably not even five percent of people actually follow those rules.

I used to get Johnson & Johnson prescribed for my psoriasis. But I guess you don't really need it.

My dog had some kind of dermatitis recently, and at the vet, the pharmacists there were trying to push Johnson & Johnson on me.😁 No prescription needed.

Generally speaking, Johnson & Johnson products like this should be prescription-only.
But honestly, since you can pretty much buy just about anything with cash these days, most pharmacists will sell you whatever you ask for without requiring a script, including this one.
That said, we shouldn't forget that this is a corticosteroid cream. Using it for more than a few days can lead to skin atrophy, discoloration, or increased skin sensitivity...

Could you elaborate on what you mean by dermatitis or skin discoloration? I'm not exactly a medical expert.🙂

I used this cream for some hand injuries from manual labor, and it worked wonders.

It’s basically when the itching starts, followed by those pale patches or spots on the skin...

I’ve had quite a few unpleasant run-ins with corticosteroid creams over the years... Honestly, I'd suggest avoiding them unless it's absolutely necessary...

I’m currently dealing with some paroxysmal issues myself, so I figured I’d jump in here to throw out a massive warning about using Johnson & Johnson or any other corticosteroid creams without being super careful. You really need to have a doctor overseeing these treatments, and you definitely shouldn't be using them for more than a month at most, because the side effects are honestly pretty brutal—we're talking things like skin atrophy and other lovely little complications.

Honestly, they don't really do much, at least nothing that sticks... I only break them out when my skin starts acting totally haywire from stress, and even then, I just use them for a week before I quit cold turkey...😢

My doctor actually had me on Johnson & Johnson for three full months... and there was absolutely zero improvement—nothing, except for that incredibly intense flare-up I got once I finally stopped applying it...😢

I’ve noticed a ton of posts about this lately. You guys think there’s something weird in the air or something over the last year or so?
I've been dealing with a mild version of this for about 15 years now, but lately—over the last twelve months—even corticosteroids aren't doing a damn thing.😢 😢

My doctor is a real pro, though—he knows his stuff better than anyone. I’m honestly just glad he finally decided to refer me to a specialist instead of trying to handle it all himself.🙄

Honestly, I’m totally done with all those doctors, specialists, and dermatologists... at this point, my only remaining appointment is with a psychiatrist. 😁 Most of these skin issues that people seem obsessed with treating with Johnson & Johnson or other corticosteroids actually stem from stress, what you eat, or just straight-up genetics. It’s all laid out pretty clearly over in the psoriasis thread...
