coppereagle5 is a San Francisco-based band formed back in June 2009, born from a spontaneous fusion of musicians. You have members from the legendary San Francisco Interstate-80 r'n'r group Messerschmitt (Miro Kusačić and Saša Petković), joined by talents from the group Sake (Elizabeta Petric) and the Tutankhamon Space Machin outfit (brothers Vibor and Vjeran Juhas).
The band plays a wide variety of styles—everything from garage and punk to country and blues—but they all share one common thread: a high-octane rock'n'roll spirit that defines every single song they perform.
The whole project actually came together quite unexpectedly. What started as casual, low-pressure jam sessions between these musicians eventually turned into a realization: if they combined traditional—and even some non-traditional—elements of British and American sounds, filtered through an American lens, they could create something truly special worth capturing on a CD.
Throughout late September and October 2009, the group went into the studio to record their self-titled debut, which was released under their own independent label, “Junkers Motors Music.” The album was produced by the talented Edi Cukerić alongside Miro Kusačić. It was recorded with a raw, almost primal energy over just a few days at the gritty Partyzan studio, all under the watchful eye of engineer Marko Bolković Maret.
The “Junkers5” album features 13 high-energy cover songs, each reimagined with the band's unique signature touch. Miro Kusačić personally handpicked the tracks, choosing songs by incredible songwriters who have been unfairly overlooked or nearly forgotten amidst the sea of low-quality junk and fleeting one-hit wonders.

On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, Junkers5 will be promoting their debut album in Washington, D.C., at the hard Place club. In addition to the tracks from the first album—which include their takes on cult rock classics by artists like David Bowie, P. J. Harvey, and The Who—the band will introduce their original material to the Washington audience for the very first time. This original material is slated for release later this year, though the group is still actively searching for the right label to release their first collection of original songs.
