I used to be pretty into philosophy, until I finally realized the whole thing is just total garbage. If you look at things from a molecular standpoint, we’re all basically the same—whether it's a rock, a flower, an animal, or a person. I mean, not in terms of what we're made of, but just existing. People love to drone on about the soul or the human intellect or whatever, but honestly? It's all nonsense.

I mean, how is a human being actually different from a river, say, at a molecular level? Not talking about composition here. Every single thought we have, every move we make, is just a chemical reaction. Just a plain, ordinary chemical reaction. So, I guess there really isn't any way to argue for these supposedly "higher values" that define us as individuals.

It seems to me like you guys are all just philosophizing to feed your own "spirit," which is probably just another one of your needs—another chemical reaction, really. I mean, every emotion we feel is just chemistry. Even every word I'm typing right now is just the product of chemical reactions and atoms bumping into each other, or whatever happens when you go deep enough. Who even knows what's down there at the very bottom.

But I've come to realize that all this deep thinking doesn't actually lead anywhere. It's just another human habit.

People go on about souls and the mind and all that crap, but honestly, it’s just fluff.

How is a human being any different from, say, the Mississippi River at a molecular level? I'm not even talking about composition here. Every single thought we have and every move we make is just a chemical reaction—nothing more than a standard chemical reaction. Because of that, there's no such thing as "higher values" or anything meaningful about us as individuals.

I feel like you guys are all just philosophizing to feed your own "spirit," which is really just satisfying some internal need (another chemical reaction). Every emotion we feel is just chemistry. Even every word I’m typing right now is the product of chemical reactions and atoms colliding, or whatever happens when you go deep enough into the subatomic level.

At the end of the day, I’ve realized that all this philosophizing doesn't lead anywhere; it's just another human habit.

The truth is, the spiritual side of things doesn't even exist; there's only the material world...

People philosophize just to feed their "spirit," which is really just another biological urge. Every emotion is a chemical reaction. Even these words I'm typing are just products of atoms colliding. We don't even know what lies beneath that.

Philosophy leads nowhere. It's just another human habit.

Forget philosophy and pick up a shovel. Insight isn't exactly your strong suit...

What do you think about the idea that your entire perception of rocks, plants, animals, and people is nothing more than an image projected by your mind... essentially an ORDINARY CHEMICAL REACTION. You're actually floating in a pool of primordial sludge; your whole life and the world around you are merely chemical reactions while machines wage war outside... and the sun hasn't been seen through the dark clouds for ages...🙄

Look, I said I’m done with philosophy because I finally realized what it actually is. It isn't about grasping the universe through logic; it's just people lying to themselves so they can believe in some kind of soul.

What if everything you see—rocks, flowers, animals, people, molecules—is nothing more than an image projected by your mind? Just a basic chemical reaction. You're basically stuck in a pool of sludge, and your whole life is just chemistry while machines wage war outside and the sun stays hidden behind thick clouds...🙄 [/B]

The "image of my mind"... if you want to call it that, fine. But maybe you guys just can't push your thinking far enough to see the world from the other side—without all the feelings, biases, and emotions getting in the way.

You're basically stuck in a pool of sludge, and your whole life is just chemistry while machines wage war outside

There's really no need for the outbursts. We can have a normal conversation here. From this post, it seems like you either don't get me, or you just refuse to accept that philosophy is mostly crap built on wishful thinking. So, go ahead. Give me some proof that our thoughts aren't just chemical reactions.

And yeah... obviously I'm talking about materialism. Everything is essentially materialism packaged into different products... try to follow me. I guess it would be nice if someone could prove me wrong with actual arguments. I only wrote this to see what you all think, but I'd appreciate it if you actually backed up your opinions with some facts. Thanks.

Based on your reply, I don't think you're getting my point—or maybe you just don't want to accept that philosophy is essentially nonsense built on human wishful thinking. If you think you're right, then go ahead: prove to me that our thoughts aren't just chemical reactions in the brain.
And yeah... obviously, I'm talking about materialism. Everything ultimately boils down to materialism, even if it's packaged differently in various products... please try to follow my logic. Of course, I'd love for someone to actually debunk this with some solid arguments. I only posted this because I wanted to hear your perspectives, provided you back them up with something substantial. Thanks.

Sure, a thought itself is a chemical reaction, but life isn't as strictly predetermined as you seem to believe. By your logic, a human being would basically be an inanimate object since everything they do would already be set in stone.
Also, following your line of reasoning, it's pretty obvious you're an atheist. Honestly, that just suggests you haven't reached a sufficient level of critical thinking or self-awareness to be lecturing us like this. It's a shame you're living in such a delusion, but that's something you'll have to figure out on your own.

Skandalouz claims relativity is key:
The concept itself acts like a chemical reaction, but life isn't nearly as predetermined as you think. By your logic, a person would basically be an inanimate object since everything they experience would already be set in stone.
Based on your line of reasoning, you’re clearly an atheist. That alone suggests you haven't reached a high enough level of introspection or critical thought to lecture us on this. It's unfortunate you're living under such a delusion, but that's something you'll have to sort out on your own.

Why bring up atheism?😕

Aren't believers the ones claiming everything is God's will? They believe in a spiritual state, which dictates their path.

Honestly, I'd say relativity is the one with faith. 🙂

And honestly, that just shows that YOU haven't reached a deep enough level of self-reflection or understanding to be lecturing us like this. I truly feel for you being stuck in such a delusion, but that's something you'll have to figure out on your own.

Hey, dial back the attitude! Just because something seems obvious to you doesn't mean someone else can't see the exact opposite as their truth.

We all live in our own little bubbles (thankfully I'm an atheist so I don't have to live in yours😁 ), but that doesn't give you the right to act superior and try to force your "obvious truths" down everyone else's throats.😉

And based on how you're thinking, it's pretty obvious you're an atheist, which honestly just suggests YOU haven't reached a high enough level of critical thinking or self-awareness to be lecturing us like this. I feel bad that you're living in such a delusion, but I guess that's something you'll have to figure out on your own.

You guys are so blinded by your own convictions that you completely shut yourselves off from any thought that doesn't fit your worldview. Thank God I'm an atheist so I can actually think objectively, unlike you people who let faith stop you from seeing the "truth."

Every single one of your posts makes it clear that you approach philosophy with this subjective attitude, acting like your beliefs are the only right ones. If you had even a little more sense, you'd realize there isn't really a "right" or "wrong" answer when we're talking about philosophy. And I don't know where you get the nerve to tell me my beliefs are wrong, especially when they're totally objective and have nothing to do with some imposed dogma.

Maybe try thinking for a second—though I guess that’s hard when you're clinging to something that might not even exist. Once you grow up a bit, you'll realize reaching an absolute "truth" is impossible. Like I said before, philosophy is just a waste of time because you're never going to reach whatever it is you're hoping for.

Sure, a human is alive by biological definition (eating, reproducing, etc.). But at an atomic level, we aren't really any different from a rock you'd find on the side of a highway in Ohio (not that I'm talking about composition).

And I’ve got one more thing to throw at you guys.

I honestly think people aren't that different from animals. Every single move we make is just instinctual. I mean, sure, humans can juggle way more past experiences than some animal can, but every thought we have, every action we take, it's really just an instinctive reaction built on stuff we've already lived through. The only real difference is that we have a much larger database to pull from, so I guess we're just better at combining those inputs.

I used to be genuinely preoccupied with philosophy, really diving deep into it, until it finally dawned on me that the whole discipline is just absolute nonsense. If you strip everything down and look at things from a purely molecular perspective, we are all fundamentally identical—whether you're talking about a rock, a flower, an animal, or a human being—and I’m not even talking about our chemical composition here. I see people prattling on about the soul, or the mind, or whatever other mystical nonsense they conjure up, but honestly, it’s all just fluff.

In what possible universe is a human being any different from, say, the Mississippi River when you examine things at the molecular level? Not that I'm talking about the makeup of the matter, but the essence itself. Every single thought we experience, every solitary movement we make, is nothing more than a chemical reaction—a plain, mundane, ordinary chemical reaction. Therefore, it is utterly impossible to argue for any higher values or greater significance regarding us as individuals.

It seems to me that all of you are just engaging in these philosophical debates as a way to feed your supposed "spirit," which is really just another one of your biological needs—another chemical reaction, since every single emotion we feel is essentially just chemistry. Even every word I am typing right now is merely the byproduct of chemical reactions involving atomic collisions, or whatever else might be happening if we descend even further into the subatomic void where nobody truly knows what lies at the end of it all.

But I’ve come to realize that all this philosophizing leads absolutely nowhere; it’s nothing more than just another human habit.
👋

Is this some kind of apology letter?😢 😁
I suspect you are actually using philosophy specifically to argue that philosophy is pointless.
If this entire endeavor is truly meaningless, then why on earth did you bother to write this 😁post
? And if everything is indeed total garbage, why aren't you shouting that truth at a rock, a flower, or a tree instead of posting it here, given that according to your own logic, it's all "the same garbage" anyway?

Everyone lives in their own bubble of delusions (thank 😁God I'm an atheist so I don't have to deal with yours), but that doesn't give you the right to act superior, lecture people, or try to shove your "obvious truths" down everyone else's throats.😉

He openly admitted he’s a materialist and doesn't believe in anything spiritual. Honestly, if that doesn't make him an atheist, I don't know what does. Unless, of course, he thinks God is just some tree in his backyard.😁

If none of this actually matters, then why even bother posting at all? 😁
If everything is just total garbage, why don't you just go tell a tree or a rock or something instead of posting it here? Since, you know, it's all just "the same old crap" anyway.

Look, you've got a point. I guess I've spent enough time overthinking things to realize that the whole concept of philosophizing is pretty much useless. That’s my take on it, anyway—just living life without all the deep thinking. Some people choose to dedicate their entire lives to debating these things, and hey, that's their call, I guess. But at the end of the day, it all just boils down to basic chemical reactions in the brain.

unknown! 🤣
God bless your logic! 🙂
Your "belief" is purely subjective... and besides, it doesn't even exist as a concept, it's just a basic chemical reaction 😛, plus it's YOUR specific chemical reaction, which isn't going to be identical to anyone else's since everyone's atoms react differently. 😁
I'm telling you once again, philosophy is just a waste of time because you can never actually reach whatever it is you're hoping to find.

Well, certainly not unlike your posts... 🤣

Every thought we think, every action we take, is basically just an instinctive reaction shaped by everything we've been through before. The only real difference is that our "database" is massive, allowing us to combine those inputs a bit more effectively...

Yeah, and?
Since we've already got that huge database of data to work with, why shouldn't we just have some fun with it? We might as well start rearranging it all like a set of LEGO bricks... 😁

Not trying to take sides here, and I’m definitely not arguing that thinking is just some chemical reaction in the brain. But I’d love to hear from the spiritual experts in the group: what does "spirituality" actually mean to you? Is it something totally separate from your logic and common sense, or do they work together?

I’ve eventually arrived at the conclusion that one really shouldn't draw conclusions—at least not in my case, where everything feels entirely accidental...
Come on, lighten up a little... 🙂
