So, here's the situation:

My stupid dog chewed through my keyboard cable. I’m thinking about just cutting it where the damage is, buying a USB cable, and splicing them together. I pretty much know how to do it—four pins for USB and all that—but I guess I wonder if it'll actually work. Has anyone here actually tried this before??
Or maybe I should just try replacing the entire cable directly from inside the keyboard unit.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The keyboard is this one:

Thanks.

Heh... bad dog... 😁

There’s no reason it shouldn't work if it's just a USB keyboard. What's your move here? If you actually have a soldering iron and feel like tearing the whole thing apart, that’s definitely the cleaner way to go... but if you're feeling lazy, then there's this other option... 😁
