Laptop issues

1. Battery charging issues:

So, this thing was acting up right from the jump, and honestly, it was a gift, so I’m pretty sure there's zero warranty left on it. I'm just wondering if this is even fixable at all.

Basically, when I'm using the laptop on battery and hit about 20%, I plug it in, but once it hits roughly 35%, it just says "plugged in, not charging." It’s stuck. No amount of resetting seems to do a damn thing. The only way it actually finishes a charge is if I shut the whole thing down, let it sit for a bit, then plug it back in and boot it up—then it finally decides to finish the job. Is there any actual solution for this mess?

2. Audio issues:

This part started happening recently, maybe like a week ago. Every single time I close the lid to put it in standby, the sound just... dies. When I "wake" it back up, there's no audio. I have to reboot the entire laptop just to get the sound working again. It's such a massive pain in the neck. Anyone know a fix for this? 🙂

Regarding that other issue you mentioned, try uninstalling the sound card drivers first. Once you've rebooted the laptop, just head over to the manufacturer's website, grab the latest audio driver, and get that installed...

I can't recall the exact steps off the top of my head, but check if there's a utility you can use to cap the charging—something like limiting it to 50% when the laptop is plugged in. It acts as a safety buffer so you aren't constantly cooking the battery by keeping it at 100% while it's tethered to the wall. You might find those settings under the battery icon in your system tray.

It’s standard for laptop batteries to lose capacity over time, especially if you're running heavy games on battery power (which causes heat buildup) or if you leave it plugged in at 100% all day long.

As for the other issue, try reinstalling your audio drivers. Just go to the manufacturer's site, select your specific version of Windows, and download them again.
