Laptop processor advice needed

Hi there, I could really use some advice on which processor I should look for in a new laptop. It’ll mostly be for basic home use—multimedia stuff, keeping a few Chrome tabs open—so I need something that won't freeze up on me. I want a machine that can handle those tasks smoothly for at least five years without any lag.
What kind of processor am I looking at within a budget of roughly $2,700 - $1000?
I’m a bit out of the loop regarding the newer AMD Ryzen chips. How do they actually stack up against the various Intel series? Honestly, I’ve always steered clear of AMD when shopping in this price range.
I see Intel has the Intel Pentium N4000 and those Silver N series chips available. Is it possible to find an i3 or an i5 in those types of builds, and if so, what generation? Maybe I could find a 5th or 6th gen, but would that even be a smart move at this point...

The AMD Ryzen 2200 is about as much bang for your buck as you're going to get, and honestly, it’s the absolute floor for me. Anything less than an Intel Core i3 7th Gen feels like a step backward. If you end up with an N5000, just know you're doing it because your budget hit a wall.

You can’t swap out the processor later, but you can always toss in an SSD down the road. Personally, I’d prioritize the beefier CPU. Then again, I'd probably just grab the SSD right away since they're everywhere.
