Greetings. I have a situation here; my laptop died, and before I commit to taking it to a repair shop, I figured I’d seek some counsel here on the forum. Basically, this summer, the machine gave up the ghost right in the middle of playing Call of Duty 4. It isn't exactly a gaming rig or any kind of high-tech machine, but it managed to run CoD just fine at 1360x720 on low settings. At one point, I bumped the settings up to high, and it continued to run the game without any issues 🤔. Then, suddenly, the screen erupted into a million multicolored lines. It hasn't worked since. If I'm not mistaken, this points toward a GPU failure, though I wouldn't be coming here to offer diagnoses if I weren't looking for them myself. This actually happened once before—I accidentally leaned on the laptop, causing the chassis to flex slightly, and the screen glitched out in the exact same way. I managed to reboot it and get it running normally back then, but after the CoD incident, it's a lost cause. Now, I'm wondering if it's even worth repairing. The plastic casing is completely shattered everywhere except for the screen, and from what I can tell, the internal hardware and the screen hinges are shot. The specs are an Intel Pentium 4 dual-core, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, and Intel integrated graphics; that's about everything I recall without digging through the paperwork.
