Little swimmers

I'm wondering how saliva affects sperm [small amounts]...
Does it actually break them down in the mouth, or is it a fine enough environment that they stay healthy and just keep swimming with those little tails.... 😁 😁

Technically speaking, they might manage to survive in there for quite some time... though it’s usually a pretty miserable existence, given they get chewed up, spat out, swallowed, or just swept away along with whatever else you're eating. A massive number of them end up committing suicide in the process. Honestly, I don't think the mouth is exactly the ideal habitat 🙄

Can I throw a question out there? If you’re hitting the bourbon pretty hard, are your sperm cells equally intoxicated? I mean, who do they even ask for directions when they end up lost in all those potholes?
I find the whole concept of sperm fascinating, gentlemen. My sincere thanks to you all for your contributions to the production line!

Stomach acid is what’s going to kill them, not saliva. If I remember correctly, saliva sits at around a pH of 5.5—which is supposedly the sweet spot for lysozyme activity. On top of that, I’m pretty sure the semen itself (that whole mixture being expelled) has enough of a buffering effect to compensate. Is it slightly alkaline? I can't recall the exact number off the top of my head. Honestly, I think you could shout quite a bit before things get problematic... though I wouldn't know exactly how much. The real question here should actually be what the half-life of 😉

I once heard this supposedly "true" story that took place during some lab practicals at a major American medical school.
The students were all hunched over their microscopes, examining saliva samples, when one student—let’s say she was a blonde—noticed something moving under the lens and called the professor over to take a look.
The professor peered into the microscope, maintained a perfectly straight face, and then added, with just the slightest, most devious smirk: "Now, listen closely, class... under certain conditions, sperm can actually survive in the mouth for several days."😁 😁

I actually heard a pretty similar story once, though the woman at the center of it was a brunette and actually quite famous... and one of my friends was the one looking through the microscope at the time.
