Hi everyone... My dad was just diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. About six months ago, he actually had his second hip surgery—so that's two hip replacements in a single year—and they put in metal implants. I mean, I have my doubts that it has anything to do with those surgeries or the metal itself, since all his tests were totally normal just six months ago. But since there’s no turning back now, I’m just wondering what we can even do at this point..
..He started chemotherapy about a week ago. Right now, they've actually sent him home until January 5th (when he’s scheduled for his next round), basically for "home care." For managing things at home, they prescribed Normabel to help him stay calm and Sanval to help him sleep.. It feels kind of unbelievable that for a condition this serious, that's all they're giving him for home treatment. We went ahead and picked up some immune support stuff from the pharmacy, like royal jelly tablets, propolis, and aloe vera. Does anyone here have any experience or advice? Like, what else might be good to support his treatment, or maybe regarding nutrition? What should he be eating, or what should he avoid? I just really want to do everything in my power to help him get better. If there's an existing thread for this, please merge it.. but since there are so many different types of leukemia, I'm sure someone out there has gone through this and can offer some insight, specifically regarding AML. Thanks so much for any answers..
